Review summary
The challenge with offering reviews on cruises is that we each have our own particular preferences, even as picayune as they may be. This was our fifth cruise, but our first time on MSC. The only reason we did MSC is that we had a narrow time frame that worked for our family, including our three adult children and son in law, and this was about the only 7-day cruise that offered those dates. I’m sure there are many cruisers who love MSC. Would I go on MSC again, even if it were the only option that worked with a schedule? No. I could go on with at least 10-12 other issues, including tiny rooms, unremarkable food, getting a note from the captain that erroneously indicated we hadn’t watched the safety video, no onboard app, and inefficient embarkation, but I’ll stop here. Although one comment about not having an onboard app. I know that Divina is not one of their updated ships but similarly dated ships have apps, so why can’t MSC? The shows were good, on the plus side. For me, I saw nothing on MSC that would make them a more favorable option over other cruise lines.Embarkation

Ship tip
Candidly, if you’ve never cruised before, you’ll probably like MSC. If you’ve done any cruises on RC, Celebrity, or other upper- to premium-level cruise lines, you will likely be disappointed. Also, MSC’s customer service is horrible on the phone, with the exception of the agent I used when I booked the cruise. She was great and very accommodating. She was definitely part of their A-level team. Once you need to make changes, be prepared for long wait lines on the phone and be prepared to deal with CSRs who are rude and/or incompetent. That same comment was echoed by two other members of my traveling party. Website is also glitchy, thus the need to call customer service. Use a travel agent.
