We didn't know what to expect going into this cruise, but for the price and itinerary we couldn't turn it down. We've cruised Princess and Royal Caribbean before and felt it compared very well with Royal Caribbean. There perhaps weren't as many activities going on during the day as on other cruise lines, but we still found ways to fill our days.
The food was all great, especially the pizza which was available every time we went looking for it.
The service was great, the ship was clean, and we truly enjoyed our time on this cruise.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It took a but to get through security, but after that it went quickly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We loved the food, especially the pizza, pasta, breads, and desserts, but would have enjoyed a few more options each day.
Onboard Activities

Entertainment
5 out of 5
We loved the production shows. The singers, dancers, and artists were all spectacular.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Our kids made food friends and were always excited to go back to the kid's club. We liked that they did "field trips" to other venues across the ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every crew member we interacted with was friendly and helpful.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was spotless and it was easy to get where we needed to go.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was roomy and clean. The sofa is looking old, but we had enough room for the four of us and all our stuff.
Ship tip
When in Rome (or on an Italian ship) do as the Romans do. Embrace the differences and enjoy the experience for what it is and not what you naivvely expected it to be.
It's like when you imagined having you own private island as a kid, it's exactly as you imagined it. The beaches are beautiful, everything is walkable, and there's plenty of space to have room to yourself.
There was a bit of a delay getting off the ship, but nothing terrible. They seemed slower to scan cards on this ship than any other we've been on. I don't know if the computer system was slower or if they examine faves to closer to make sure the card matches the peraon.
Divina is an older ship. Meriviglia, Seascape and newer are Smartships. They use facial recognition throughout the ship. I understand in speeds up port disembarkation and embarkation faster (once your photo is on file) and even allows the ship to take photos of you in the public areas you can purchase later. I think it also assists the service people in personalizing services for you.
Sounds like MSC is stepping up the game. I'll have to try them again. Lots of things I didn't like in January but maybe they've fixed them. I didn't even like the pizza. It had too much of a sour tomato paste taste.
Glad you enjoyed it. I was on the Divina for 19 days in October and loved it. I am booked for three more cruises on the Divina in the next six months. I’m not sure why so many don’t care for MSC.
