Review summary

The MSC Divina impresses you before you board her and does not let you down was aboard. The cabin conveyed a sense of spaciousness. The food was excellent. All of the staff was very courteous and attentive. The theater cast was very talented, the shows varied in their level of entertainment appeal. Some shows titles conveyed little about the actual presentation and some shows would have a limited audience appeal.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The process is always a slow one, but MSC made it about as good as I have experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had a very good wait staff, but believe they were required to cover too many tables. On the previous four cruises I have experienced on two different cruise lines, I do not recall the wait staff that handled my table having responsibility for so many other tables and passengers. Our waiters were always courteous and as prompt as the situation appeared to allow. I found it extremely strange that soft serve ice cream would be such an oddity that it was served only in one location, not in a dining facility and always came off as an impromptu solution. I did not like the non-alcoholic drink options. Other cruise lines offered an unlimited options that was much less in cost.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I missed not having a walking/running track.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The stage show cast was superb. Some of the shows were the best I have seen. Some were some of the worst - the most boring.

Children's Programs

We did not have any kids with us on the cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff was particularly courteous and attentive.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The MSC Divina is a beautifully appointed ship. It is large without being overpowering in its size.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was wonderful! In comparison to accommodations I have experienced on four other ships with other lines, it was spacious, nicely appointed and the bathroom was particularly nice.

Ship tip

If you like to have some drinks with meals or during the evening, etc. You might as well purchase an appropriate number of coupon books ahead of time.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Merely in town to embark and disembark the ship.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
The island tour we took needed to be about an hour longer to afford time to actually see more at the two locations where we stopped. The bus driver appeared to be very knowledgeable and entertaining.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
Did not do an excursion. Went on a self-guided tour. Have been to the port before. Always a lot to see.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Did not take an excursion. Have been to the port several times before. Did some shopping and took in a beach.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized. Fast and efficient. The bus/shuttle arrangements to the airport arrived well after the required disembarkation time.

The Divine continues to get very good (and very bad) reviews. Glad you liked it. I hope to be on the Divina within a year.
