Review summary

Elegance, fun, and absolutely worth the money. The MSC Divina is currently the only MSC ship on the fleet that currently sails from the US, but with the Seaside coming soon, Americans will have even more of an opportunity to see why MSC is a wonderful choice.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived about 20 minutes before embarkation began. There were no lines, and we made it through security and up to the counter in no time. Because of my hip I used the special needs check in, and aside from the fact that I had to go beck through the line to get to the ramp to the ship, it was fine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Honestly, I should give this a 5 star review. Unfortunately, we found the late night pizza to be absolutely disgusting; burned on the outside and raw on the inside. The last 3 nights, dinner in the dining room was still good, but not as great as the first few days. The drink package was perfect, and the bartenders were great, always remembering what we wanted.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Onboard was amazing. Whether relaxing on my balcony, sunning in the adult infinity pool, watching an awesome show, or participating in games and shopping, my onboard experience was the best. I wish I had gone to several of the attractions, but the ship is huge, so I couldn't find them! That's okay. I just need to book another cruise on the Divina!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
It was okay. I think I was expecting more because of the reviews, but I have definitely seen better. I walked out of '70's night because it went downhill fast. I stayed through the Michael Jackson tribute, but it wasn't the dancer playing Michael who caught our attention; it was the background dancers.

Children's Programs

I have no children who qualify

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had amazing staff. Andy, our steward, was incredible. Even getting rid of the St. Maarten sand on our floor in record time. Our bartenders, George and Manuel, were the best. I adore them! We had Archie and Nita for our table staff, and they were so in tune with us that we rarely had to ask for anything else. The service on the ship is very European and very personal.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship is absolutely gorgeous. And HUGE! I don't think I saw everything! I loved the main atrium with the gorgeous Swarovski crystal staircases. What I also liked was the secondary atrium on the 6th floor with the coffee bar, live music and shops. It took a couple of days to get used to the layout, but that just gave us time to enjoy it wherever we went.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Although it was a long walk from the elevators, I really did enjoy the cabin and the layout. The couch was nice, and we could sit on that and get ready because the mirror was right there. The bathroom was larger than most ships, and had plenty of counter and shelf space. There was plenty of closet space, and there were drawers in the closet that provided lots of storage. The piece de resistance was the balcony. It was small, but more than adequate. I loved that the deck below was relatively private, and we had an amazing view of the ocean. I loved it!

Ship tip

Put on your walking shoes and enjoy the sites. Dress was a little more formal than you see on Carnival and Royal Caribbean; instead of shorts, bring capris or maxi dresses. I loved that it was a little classier (and a lot more fun).

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
It's Miami. Nothing more, nothing less.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
I LOVE ST. MAARTEN! The water was a gorgeous blue. The sand is almost white. It's colorful and gorgeous. The people are amazing. I wish I had time to spend; I'd really like to go to Marigot. But...the people spoke French and the Indian food could not be beat. I got a gorgeous ring!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
It was just like being in America. Lots of walking, but it was okay. I liked having internet, data and phone.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
My third trip to Nassau, and a very emotional one. My husband became ill the last time we were in Nassau and it turned out he had a near fatal brain tumor. Lots of memories. I always stop by Senor Frogs at the end of the port, and go through the Straw Market (which seemed smaller somehow). I went back to ship early, and sat on the balcony and cried healing, cathartic tears. It was, as always, a blessed place.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I had no problems (except that I thought I had cleared my balance...ooops!). I loved being among the last to leave; I was able to sit and relax in some of my favorite places (like the Black and White lounge), take last minute pictures (by the lipstick sculpture) and peruse our professional photos (way too expensive for a photo with staple holes in them). I was off and out of there in no time.

Traveler Photos

Aperol Spritz in Black and Silver bar. Thanks, George!
