Overall we will not return to or recommend the cruise line based off of the poor planning and the little attempt to recover. It is at mediocre experience sailing with MSC. I had not even bothered yelling at anyone but I kept getting your survey emails. A decent company would now at last offer something to save face but I doubt it will happen. A swindle of a cruise line offering "European excellence" that did not exist during our trip. Terribly, Terribly disappointed that I chose your line over another when I have so little chance to vacation.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Drove 5 1/2 hours to be let down by cruise
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet food was essentially two themes all 7 days, rice and beans / meat and potatoes the dining room vegetarian options was the same two things turned into different foods each night and were not very good, the stations were constantly out of ice, napkins, etc… The hand sanitizer was out at almost every station I tried on a daily basis.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Bingo, Trivia, Casino, There was no mini-golf on board as advertised. When we ended up with an entire extra day at sea there were only 3 new things added to the schedule, they planned for nothing.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The two Cirque like shows were the highlight of entertainment offered. No comedy shows which was disappointing.
Children's Programs
It looks like there were many options available for kids which is nice.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Besides the bars being understaffed (so slow) and understocked, all personnel were nice and courteous.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The common area bathrooms inside the ship were not very nice, no soap in many of the canisters... hand sanitizer was always out when I tried to get some.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
It was clean but extremely basic and the shower is the smallest I have encountered on a cruise.
Ship tip
Bring sanitizer, expect mediocre food, entertainment and possible port deviations
Everything was fine but they unnecessarily canceled the "farm tour" portion of our martha stewart cruise and blamed it on weather...the weather was near perfect but a bit windy...I have pictures to prove it.
No time to do a real excursion of choice because of how little time you were at port and how long it took to tender to and from the ship...had to come back an hour early per the cruise line to tender back in time which is NOT advertised.
It was cancelled due to weather, it was the highlight of the trip, there was no tug we are guessing to help us dock though we saw a ship carrying on towards port. We ended up with an extra sea day back to back, with no alternate port and we couldn't even go to MSC's own island (which is still under a decent amount of construction) because other ships were there. We were offered literally nothing for the disappointment and they came up with nothing extra to entertain us. This port was the only reason we tried your line and there was no back up plan for anything, as if you can't see any forecoming weather issues.
Half of the island in under contruction but the parts that are open are nice... the bars and such are simply not ready, they were out of the drink we wanted twice in 4 hours and didn't have ice or straws or cold beer during the evening. Really, really not ready for that amount of people. 3 stars for obviously beautiful scenery but also obviously a racket.
