Review summary

Our cruise felt like a huge disappointment. After spending thousands of dollars and months of planning, all our ports were cancelled. We spent 1 day on land and 4 days at sea. The same things happened to Carnival and they immediately gave all the passengers $200 onboard credit, 50% off the next cruise and more activities to make their stay at sea more bearable. While Royal Caribbean did nothing. We visited guest services to see about accommodations and we were met with resistance and staff that didn’t care. Very very disappointing especially since I suggested my friends to not go on Carnival and try Royal Caribbean. Such a waste.

Well I get being disappointed but expecting 50% of the cruise fare back is unreasonable. I mean Royal can’t help the weather, they still sailed, which means fuel cost, employee cost, food cost etc. I’d suggest you go back to Carnival…..leaves more space for us on Royal!

I thought everyone knew itineraries could change, especially during bad weather for safety reasons, are you loyal to Royal?

You’ll never hear me complain about some extra sea days.

YOU take the risk of bad weather in the winter.

JourneyWithJosh     11 months ago

You can't blame the cruise line for weather.

Sorry you were disappointed with your cruise. The weather can’t be helped. Cruise lines do everything they can to make sure everyone is safe. We’ve had ports cancelled due to weather and never expected compensation and made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves. We didn’t let it impact our vacation enjoyment. Hopefully your next vacation meets all your expectations.

Always at the mercy of cruiselines.. Tgey decide, change, cancel... but we always pay..

Oh no! Did they even explain why they canceled it last minute? It feels like a scam to do that right before and not due to some extremely bad weather or such chance events

Hopefully you enjoyed some of it. Itineraries can and do change for a variety of reasons, including weather, mechanical issues, medical emergencies, etc. As the contract everyone agrees to when booking a cruise the itinerary is not guaranteed and compensation for missed ports is not guaranteed. The cruise line may or may not provide compensation. If a specific port is of importance to visit, it is best to fly there directly rather than hoping the ship can make it there. The other option is to get a travel insurance policy that will compensate you for missed ports (check Nationwide).
