We've sailed RCCL many times. We plan to do another in the near future. I feel the food in the main dining room can be improved. Most of it was bland. We ate in the Windjammer 2/4 nights and the food had a better taste and more choices.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived at 11AM and were allowed to go right on the ship, no waiting at all. The port really knew what they were doing!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was ok. We didn't return to the main dining room after the 2nd night. The staff weren't friendly, didn't discuss the menu with us and dinner took 2 hours. We've sailed many times and have had excellent service and conversation with the staff. We never received that on this cruise.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We did most of the trivia games and karaoke. We enjoyed them very much. The staff were excellent and very friendly.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Big Band were excellent. We very much enjoyed them. We came across the performance by accident, Very happy we did. We also saw the ice show. That was very entertaining and we enjoyed it.
Children's Programs
We didn't have children with us.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent. But please be aware they only service the rooms now in the AM or PM. You choose on the 1st day when you meet him/her. We had no issue with that.
Our waiters in the main dining weren't the friendliest. They didn't talk about the menu, how our day was, anything. The windjammer staff were very friendly, walked around often to see if we needed anything.
The activities staff were very outgoing and funny. They got everyone into the games and kept us laughing.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship just left drydock from refurbishing. Therefore, it was very clean. There was always someone in the windjammer's entrance to be sure you washed your hands before going in. We appreciated that very much.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our room steward came in the mornings only. He was excellent, cleaning the room and refreshing our towels. The room was very comfortable and the size was fine for the little we were in there.
Ship tip
The Promenade is a great feature of the ship. You could always find shopping, food, drinks and entertainment
We did the honey, chocolate, & tequila tour. IT WAS EXCELLENT. We highly recommend it. But would have liked to spend more time at the honey & chocolate locations than we were given. There was a lot to see.
We didn't care for the merchants at the port. They were pushy and trying to get you to go into their stores. Some were difficult when you said no or just kept walking pass them. We bought a few souvenirs but decided to return to the ship earlier than we expected.
We chose to do the self-assist disembarkation since we had a 15 hour drive home & were able to leave as early as 7:30AM. HOWEVER, due to technical difficulty with one of the gangways, we had a long line to leave the ship. We finally got to our car at 9:30AM. The customs went much smoother.
