We had a great time from start to finish. My only problem was in understanding some of the loudspeaker announcements.. I usually could only pick up the occasional word. Not a big deal though. I have the same problem on every ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick and easy. We were sitting in the waiting area for just a few minutes before boarding. We never had any problems at Port Canaveral.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
This time, we didn't do any specialty dining, but the main dining room and Windjammer were both fine. We always find something we like to eat.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
My main activity while onboard is trying out the various bars and spending time in the casino. No complaints about either one.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the sail away parties and the themed parties in the promenade. They were always well attended and lots of fun.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward was Su and he did a great job and was always friendly and greeted us by name whenever he saw us in the hallway .
All the bartenders were great. We loved Anthea at the Schooner bar.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Mariner is one of my favorites. Everything was clean and well maintained. I like the free hot dogs on the pool deck from the Dog House. A couple days that was our lunch and we didn't bother going to Windjammer.
Some things I prefer on Independence like the layout of the Solarium with the hot tubs overhanging the side of the ship and the larger Playmakers next to the Casino, but I prefer Mariner's Dog House to the Fish and Chips place on Independence's pool deck.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was fine. We knew exactly what to expect after watching You Tube reviews before we chose the cabin. It was the first cabin by the forward stairs on the Starboard side of the ship on deck 9 so it was easy to go wherever we wanted to go. We seldom took an elevator and mainly used the stairs.
