Review summary

I absolutely love cruising, and every cruise I go on, is a great time. My husband and I make the best out of every experience. Royal Caribbean just didn't live up to my expectations. I will definitely cruise Royal Caribbean again, but, I will only go back on the Mariner of the Seas if it's FREE =)

Embarkation

We purchased "the key", which was supposed to give us priority security check and boarding. The attendants weren't even familiar with the program. The waiting room was ice cold!!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We ate in the dining room for dinner, and maybe once for breakfast. The food was just okay. I don't know if it was just this ship. I hadn't been on a Royal Caribbean ship in about a year, but from what I remember, I thought the food was spectacular. During breakfast, it was quite confusing they were offering buffet and table service, however, all the food was the same.

Onboard Activities

Rock climbing wall was great, no wait. The fitness center was decent. Pools were nice. Adult only area wasn't very secluded. Its in an open area where anyone can walk through. The 2 large hot tubs were enjoyable.

Entertainment

Hate to constantly compare to Carnival, but if you looking for a party it's not on this ship!!!!

Children's Programs

Didn't bring any children.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
No one wowed. The staff at guest services weren't concerned with my issues with my room. No one knew what the perks of "the key" were. That was a waste of my money!!! (BTW, I called RC and got my money back). My room attendant wasn't attentive AT ALL. Had to constantly ask for towels and wash clothes. Didn't have a remote control in the room. AND WORST OF ALL, NO TOWEL ANIMALS...LOL With the key, we were entitled to lunch at the steak restaurant (forgot the name) on the day of embarkation. We waited 1hr for an overcooked steak, and an overcooked piece of fish. The presentation was horrible, and our server hid, instead of telling us the kitchen was experiencing delays. Horrible way to start a cruise!!!1

Ship Quality

Ship appeared clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Interior promenade view. This room was supposed to be an upgrade from my original room, in which Royal Caribbean mistakenly cancelled. Before I book, I painstakingly research my room, to make sure (as best as possible), that I won't be disappointed. The room I originally had was a newly built interior room, and I was looking forward to it. The room I had, was horrible. I'm assuming we were close to some sort of motor room because the humming and vibrations were non-stop. I could not be in the room, unless we were going immediately to bed. There wasn't anything to see from window, but the windows across the atrium. The window was filthy and smudged, so you wouldn't have a clear view of anything, anyway.

Ship tip

Eat at the buffet. If your over 18, visit the solarium. Late night pizza is great. Park at "park port Canaveral"

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

We arrived early, and walked on the beach for a little while. Very nice.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Coco Cay was the only reason we went on this cruise. The improvements are phenomenal. The oasis was were we hung out the most. It's beautiful. The bar in the water was packed, but the vibe was cool and the music was great. Would definately go back to Coco Cay, but maybe on a different RC Ship!!!

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Have already been. Rather stay onboard.

Disembarkation

Very easy!!!! Carried our bags off, paid a porter $10 to bypass the Customs line. Off the ship, and in the van to the parking lot in about 10 minutes.

What room number did you have? I’m curious because we have a promenade view booked. Gonna be our first cruise on Royal and I’m hoping for the best since we hate Carnival.
