Review summary

Mariner of the Seas is a large 133,000 ton ship with some nice features. Don't expect great food or outstanding entertainment. The best show is the Ice Show. This was outstanding. The production shows were poor. There are facts about this ship that were poor.e.g. to get a pool towel you must leave a $20.00 deposit. There is no heated pool. There are no daily newspapers available except for the ships daily newsletter. There is a charge in the morning for a glass of fresh sqeezed orange juice. The ship is very clean however there is no food served outside on the pool decks as most ships have. Nice ship but too many deficits for me to want to go on this ship again.

Cabin / Stateroom

Matress was VERY hard and the comforter was way too heavy. Very uncomfortable.

Ports of call

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
Too bad the Greeks don't value their city and sites. The grafiti was awful and the city is dirty. What a shame!

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

Don't be hustled by their merchants. They are very aggresive. There are good buys if you are very careful.

Naples, Italy

Go to Sorrento, Amalfi Coast and Pompei. Well worth it.

Rhodes, Greece

Beautiful old city and very nice to visit.

Haifa, Israel

Israel is to be seen and appreciated for their accomplishments. The cities are beautiful and clean and the history is to be studied and appreciated. Don't miss it..

Ashdod, Israel

What can one say about the city of Jerusalem except read and study the history before going and get a good guide when there. Most Israeli guides are excellent.

Souda (Chania), Crete

Nothing charming about this port. Don't waste your time or money. Walk through the shopping area (full of leather goods at high prices) and get back on the ship.

Pros: ports were interesting especially Israel

Cons: The ship was maintained well but the food and the entertainment was below average.

Recommends Mariner of the Seas? No.
