Review summary

The first cruise that I ever took was in 1994 ( it was wtih another cruise liner) and it was an okay experience. This was the 2nd cruise that I've taken in the last 12 years. I didn't have very high expectation. I was impressed with the size of the the Mariner of the Seas, the buffet was good, the formal dining area was beautiful and the food was fabulous. We ate when we weren't even hungry, that's how great the food was. The shops were nice and each evening they had different selection of things for sale and at a good price. I thought that the Cruise Director and her team did a great job with all the activities on board the ship. We didn't have time to make it to half of the venues. My two boys (9yrs & 11yrs) had such a great time that they wanted to stay on the ship for another week. The day care on the ship was fabulous, and my kids didn't want to spend any time with us, while we were on the ship. We tried to tell all our friends and family how great our vacation experience was, but there's nothing like experience it for yourself. At least once in your life time you need to travel to the Bahamas on the Royal Caribbean! Before we even got off the ship, we were talking about planning our next vacation on the Royal Caribbean in 2007.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Can't say enough of the quality of the food (great, great & great!) . I would have liked a little more sea food in the buffet though!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I really enjoyed the evening productions that they had. They had things for adults, and the family as well.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The staff at the day care were wonderful to the children and they enjoyed all the activities.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I felt the service was excellent. Our waiter, Assistant Waiter and the State room Attendant were always pleasant and were ready to make us feel like royalty.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Mariner of the Seas is only 3 yrs old, but it is kept in a very good condition. I was surprise how clean everything was. I am a clean freak!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an inside cabin and that would have been okay for my husband and I, but we booked our trip 3 week before it was to set sail. We opt to have our 2 boys stay with us because they are only 9 & 11.

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
I had high expectation of St. Thomas and I was a little disappointed that it was not as developed as I had hoped. The Coki beach was nice and you didn't have to go too far to snorkel.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
I thought the shops at St. Maarten was much more reasonable and I liked that the beach was right at the very front of where all the water Taxi. You didn't have to take a taxi to go any where.
Don't Miss: Shopping was good.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
I like the Cococay Island the best.! It was beautiful, the sandy white beach, the clear blue water. I enjoyed this island better then St. Maarten or St. Thomas

Pros: I enjoyed it all!

Cons: Nothing
