Review summary

Overall a nice cruise with great ports. I did pick up a cold which made the trip uncomfortable for our group, but this was a nice itinerary. I am not personally a fan of so many days at sea, but otheres enjoyed that. The biggest issues were the Carnival Hub Chat was down for the first too days, making finding your family extremely difficult. It was working by end of day two. The AC was non existent on the packed elevators as well as some common areas on various decks. We felt food was OK overall, but service personnel was reduced since our last time on this ship a year ago. Still a nice oversall experience.

Embarkation

Typical lines but they moved quickly. We got there an hour early and still were let on from our time. Avoid the lido deck as it was packed with people trying to get food.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only went to the buffet a few times as too many people handling utensils and caughing near the food. I blame this for getting me sick on the cruise. We ended up dining in the main dining toom for most breakfasts and dinner. Chibang is only allowed once for free and the first time we booked it, there were computer issues in the app so ready tables were not being notified on a timely basis as app indicated. We did go back the next evening and they removed the $8 fee for a second reservation and really made up for the previous days delays. Overall, your meals in the di Ning rooms or restaurants tend to be long, with waits between courses. Overall food was decent, not great. You learn what is good and stick with it. We enjoyed the days at sea brunches and 3:00 Tea Time on days at sea. Cheaifs Table was a highlight as it usually is, but even here, the pouring of wine was by request if you wanted refills. We recall servers coming around frequently offering refills. Not on this trip.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to do if you want to by following the app Carnival Hub while on board. The shows and comedy club were good, but you need to get there earlynto get a seat. Comedy shows filled up fast. The Bolt roller coaster was down the entire trip due to electrical issues. They had rope course and water slides as well as several pools that were often full. Finding a deck chair that wasn't reserved with a towel was difficult on days at sea. Bingo was fun and there was typical cruise shops to keep you buying stuff.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Nice shows at center stage. Some game shows too. Many bars with live music throught the ship

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My 17 year old was enrolled into the O2 club which he enjoyed as it's a place to meet same aged people. He said the staff wasn't as nice as the last cruise he was on, but he had a good time overall.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Mostly good and friendly. But on busy nights at the main dining hall, you can tell the service dropped. There clearly is less staff than when we sailed this ship a year ago. What times were longer to get food. Service lines at customernserice were long. But towards the end, everyone was extra nice.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Mostly clean but starting to show Wageningen the room. We wiped and sanitized our room and found plenty of dirt, some hair and such on the first day checking in. The ship is large and we noticed too many area with weak of minimal air-conditioning. Deck 8 where the pizza and panni food is available was always too hot. All the elevators had no AC and were packed most of times mid ship. Our room was comfortable as we're the restaurants, but too many areas were way too hot and we're a common complaint

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Room was comfortable but a little dirty when we checked in. The USB poelrts were very slow or didn't work. Neither bedside port worked in out room so we had to plug in on the desk area. The balcony was small buy was fine. We did not like the stagared balconies in this section as you could look down into people's business. Bathroom also stays moist so towels and bathing suits hung do nit dry overnight. We ended up leaving the bathroom door open as much as we could and took wet items out into the room to dry.

Ship tip

Use the back elevators for less wait

We have been here before. Beautiful beach, the use of Margaritaville pool and plenty of shops if you stay on port. Just very crowded.

Disembarkation

Typical mad rush to get off but it was organized. We stayed in our room until the last minute at 8:30 and then had to get down to deck 6 where it was packed, but moving. No issues getting our luggage
