Mardi Gras

7 Night Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 30, 2022

Ship: Mardi Gras

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

Carnival Mardi Gras has a lot of Kinks they will need to work out in order to have this as a successful boat. I have been on other large cruise boats that did not have long lines for entertainment and small buffets.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Was quick getting on the boat. Used verifly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Main dining room was very slow. Almost 2 hours to complete a meal. Buffet was the worse I've seen on any carnival boat. Very few items on a buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner. What happened to the big buffets? Not on this boat.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

2 out of 5
If you are not in line for any show or comedian at least 45 minutes you wont get a seat.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was very friendly. Just disappointed when out by the pools you could never find someone walking around to get a drink...

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Very clean boat but the bathrooms around the boat suck! Hard time closing a bathroom door...

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was nice. Bathroom very small. Lol

Ship tip

Have lots of patience. Lines are very long and all the entertainment areas and food process is very slow

Ports of call

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Worse disembarked Ive seen. Been on alot of cruises. But this boat was the worse. Took almost 30 minutes to get on a elevator. Elevators are smaller than the older boats. Very upsetting.....

Thank you for your review. We choose not to eat at the buffet because the food didn't look fresh, kids were picking up things with their bare hands, and the staff dumped some new food on top of the old instead of replacing the whole tray.

PS - I will agree the food could be improved upon. It’s not bad, but not great either. However, I’ve always felt that way about Carnival’s food. We certainly never went hungry though!

I had such a different experience on my cruise the week before yours. In fact, embarkation/disembarkation for us was the smoothest I’ve ever seen! While there were lines/crowds at obvious times like the deck party and at the elevators right after a show, overall I felt like it wasn’t crowded at all and I know we had over 5,000 people cruising! Were we on the same ship? LOL

From other sites where people were on the same Cruise, I am excited. They were all in unison saying how great it was. Thank You for your look at it.

Conclusion Carnivals food sucks now, Im really disappointed. Rates didnt go down for lower quality food. This is the 4th ship in 3 days i hear food was terrible. Buffet poor choice and repeat day after day. Sad sad sad
