We had fun but were very disappointed in Carnival for all the reasons mentioned previously.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
No one there to welcome us onboard, no bar staff offering drinks.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
They need more staff. Took 3 hours for dinner one evening and 2 hours for the brunch at sea.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Entertainment
3 out of 5
This score would be a 1 star if based on the Mardi Gras performers alone. They were the worst we have even experienced, and we have sailed on over 40 cruises. The comedians were absolutely amazing.
Children's Programs
Did not have children on the ship
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Waiters were extremely slow, the was almost no bar service in the dining room. Room stewards only service cabins once each day, no more turn down service or chocolates on the pillows at night. The refrigerator in our cabin (10420) had food left in it from the previous cruise and there were curly black hairs in the drawers.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Beautiful ship but poor design with the over-sized balcony. We could look directly onto the balconies below and the ones above us could look into ours (unless we stayed under the roof of the balcony).
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
See comments above r/t cleanliness and balcony design. The plus was the amount of storage space.
Ship tip
Do not buy the Cheers package...the days of having bar staff combing the decks and the shows taking drink orders does not exist on this ship (maybe not on any Carnival ships, not sure). If you sailed with Carnival before, be prepared for poor service and slow meals in the dining room. )
We were on the 4/23 cruise and loved most everything. Our service was great! Only once I recall slow service and that was at Chibang, which didn’t really have good food either. Oh well… Had no trouble getting drinks.
I see a lot of complaints lately about service. They are having trouble getting visas for crew. This isn’t just a carnival issue, it’s a world wide issue. The world is short staffed. You cant assume things will jump right back to normal. I’m on Mardi Gras in Oct and look forward to all of it
Thank you for your review. We were on the 4/16 sailing and they were extremely shirt staffed. Carnival increased capacity before increasing their staff and unfortunately guest and staff are the ones who ultimately are affected.
