Majesty of the Seas

7 Night Perfect Day Bahamas (New Orleans Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 18, 2020

Ship: Majesty of the Seas

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Review summary

Since the Majesty is smaller and older, better information specifically for Majesty should be provided. I did not know specialty coffees could be gotten at the only coffee shop on board and no milkshakes on board. They are offered in packages but on Majesty they weren’t and my grandsons love milkshakes. It still was a wonderful experience! Memories made with my family.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
MDR service was wonderful. Joso and Charles were top notch! Even when my grandson asked for broccoli for dessert. He got it and ate it all.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The staff working with rock climbing took extra time with my 17 year old grandson to achieve the more difficult climbs and he had a great time and achieved them all.

Logo Souvenir Shop

3 out of 5

Not enough of items and sizes with logo. I still have sweatshirts from Holland America for Alaska cruise that I took in 2001 and still wear with itinerary on it. It helps for those of older people and the memory isn’t what it use to be.

Gift Shop

4 out of 5

More items with Majesty and not so much of items from previous trips not related to the one we were on.

Entertainment

Children's Programs

My younger grandson asked to go back and had fun with activities.

Teen Area

My grandson enjoyed it

Fuel Teen Club

5 out of 5

My grandson met a lot of new friends that he loved being with and made his trip memorable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very attentive to all our needs. They were all great!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is older but staff was always busy cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Pleasantly surprised at the size since it was myself and my two grandsons. We had plenty of room and ocean view was nice.

Ship tip

Remember that you plan your vacation but you don’t plan the weather! It was cold and not many days at the pool but the trip is what you make of it! Rain or shine, enjoy each day. No one promises you tomorrow!

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
Never been to New Orleans before so enjoyed seeing Bourbon Street and the sites.

Key West, Florida

3 out of 5
No excursions on first stop since it was on a holiday and Coast Ship Museum was closed that my grandson wanted to see. Second time we visited, we rented a golf cart and went sightseeing on our own but was extremely cold that day. We did get to go through the ship and was worth visiting.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Wonderful day, wish we could have gone back there when Nassau was canceled! Water was cold but it was a perfect day! Food and service was wonderful!

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Weather issues and were taken back to Key West instead.

We got milkshakes almost every night at Johnny Rockets. Just $5.50 without having to eat there for the $9.95 price. They were soooo good too!

Never hesitate to ask for or about anything. The cabin steward, in my experience, will point you in the right direction. The current trend in the service industry is moving away from posted/printed information overload.

This is what I mean by having ship specific information. It could be placed in rooms where you can get specific beverages, just something simple. I didn’t know I could get my coffee at the shop until I decided charge or not, I wanted a specific coffee and then was not charged so it made my deluxe package well worth it, especially on those cold days that we had with a shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream. I did ask at the coffee shop for milkshake and was not told I could go to Johnny Rockets. Make it easier for us and your staff. He was always trying to provide quick service and probably didn’t think to tell me. I still loved my cruise and my grandsons survived without their shakes and want to go on another. Thank you all for a wonderful time.

Yes Johnny Rockets makes a fine milkshake on Majesty. Next time ask someone on ship if you cannot find it
