Review summary

Every year we take our grown kids and grandchildren on a family trip. Our family absolutely LOVED this experience so much, they hit us up to take them on another cruise for NEXT year's family vacation. We're STUCK! They won't let us choose anything else, and Royal Caribbean is truly an amazing experience. One other thing to mention, I booked this trip through my Hilton Honors membership, and Ms. Dorothea was our agent to book the trip. Dorothea has excellent customer service skills, and was very knowledgable with all of our questions. Thanks so ALL!

Embarkation

All agents were very helpful and friendly. We were very pleased with how well the terminal agents kept the process moving in a timely manner! Smiles and friendliness made us true fans at the terminal!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
STARBUCKS COFFEE WAS A DEFINITE PLUS, PLUS! ALSO IMPORTANT, we prefer to pre-pay cash (Guest Services), and the Guest Services personnel and system for this was perfect. The dining menus, availability of many choices, HIGH QUALITY of main courses, and our WONDERFUL WAITERS ABEL AND CHARLES, were spectacular. The Windjammer buffet restaurant was amazing, and a lifesaver because our family all eat at different times during the day. All restaurant staff went out of their way to provide service, and we will sail Royal Carribean again simply because customer service is so highly apparent throughout the ship.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We learned to "cha-cha", we played every Bingo game available, Family Feud, watched movies over the pool, rock-climbing, fitness center, Casino Royale, and ESPECIALLY the "$10.00 shopping night! Moe kept us all informed, and we also attended every show... the ''70's tribute show was fantastic, and even the younger kids recognized the music!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The stage shows, actors, musicians were amazing. We appreciate the comedian's more "family oriented" act in the early evening, because we brought our young family. As a Broadway family, we have to put in a shout out for "Georgia Shaw", the young dancer on the ship. She is talent +, and we hope she goes far in her career. The host in the Schooner Bar (Trivial Pursuit?) was not one of our favorites...a little loud an and negative...just not our taste in entertainment. Overall, it was great talent.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Even though our grandson was busy much of the time with his parents, we so appreciate the kid's club on ship, and this was the reason we chose this cruise! The children looked like they were having great fun. Keep up the great work!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Waiter (Abel) and room steward (Connie) were amazing. What we really noticed, however, was how each and every employee on ship would take the time to fully answer our questions instead of rushing us or assuming we knew the answer. We know ship personnel must get numerous questions daily, but they were all so patient! They need to know their patience is greatly appreciated.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout and design was a bit "older", but certainly enjoyable. Love the 4th deck/5th deck center of it all, and the fact we boarded the ship right where the Guest Services desk sits was very important for "orientation".

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Connie did an amazing job keeping our cabin clean, and always greeting us with a smile. Our cabin was very comfortable, and to be honest, we were so busy enjoying all of the ship's activities and shopping we were hardly in the room. Lighting was very good in the room due to that bright dressing mirror light, and the dim reading lights above the bed were a great idea if I wanted to read, but my husband wanted to sleep.

Ship tip

On the set sail day, board the ship earlier in the day, and take your time to walk around the ship and get acclimated. Read the daily Activity Sheet, and get involved in the activities because it creates so many fun memories. TAKE YOUR FAMILY WHILE YOU'RE AT IT!

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Very organized and friendly personnel. No excursion, because we'd rented a beach house nearby.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
It was fun to shop, and see Atlantis. No excursion. We enjoy walking around.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
This is a gorgeous port/island because it's not too "commercialized", and a true "tropical island experience". I hope RC never "overbuilds" this island (we saw construction so we were wondering). Keep it simple! The fact RC had towels ready for us to check out was amazing! We should've planned for the activities on the island better, but the BBQ lunch was amazing. The day on Cococay was one of our highlights of the entire trip.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Seamless. We took our turn when our Deck number was called, and all ship personnel were right there to assist, with a friendly sense of humor no less! Excellent organized system to get that many people off of the ship! We also appreciate the fact that while we were waiting in the early morning, we could meet up as a family for breakfast in the Windjammer buffet, rather than sitting in our rooms!

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. I'm going on my first Royal Caribbean cruise next week. It's good to hear such positive things about their customer service.
