Review summary
We had just returned from a wonderful Carnival cruise when we booked this one on Royal Caribbean. By comparison, the food here was not as good and the morale of the crew was lower. The stateroom was smaller, bathroom was smaller, bed less comfortable, and closet space MUCH less. This cruise was much more expensive per day than our cruise on Carnival, though we were on the same deck with the same class of stateroom (ocean view). We had a good time, but were disappointed that it was not as good as Carnival, while charging much more per day ($135 compared to $250.). Both ships offered lots to do and see. The casino on Carnival was larger and offered more table games, and had poker tables open for longer periods. The casino on the Majesty had few table games open and was generally small and disappointing. The late night food offered on the Majesty was generally a very limited selection of pizza. The midnight chocolate buffet was great, but a very long wait in line. Again, Carnival did both the late night food and the midnight dessert buffet much better. The places where the Majesty shined was in our great waiter and our wonderful cabin attendant. They never failed to please. The morning top deck breakfast was very good, though the staff there was overworked and unhappy about being excluded from the gratuity pool. The food on the top deck buffet was as good as on Carnival, though the Majesty main dining room lagged significantly behind in food quality. Carnival gave us Chateaubriand, Seafood Newburg, and Lobster. Royal Caribbean Majesty did not even offer an adequate Prime Rib. While we enjoyed our cruise, and can recommend this ship, it was just not as good as the Carnival Elation.Ports of call
Pros: Breakfast buffet on the top deck.
Cons: Main seated dinner, the food was not top quality.
Recommends Majesty of the Seas? Yes!
