Review summary

Second time on the Majestic Princess but last tim was around NZ where only one port was a tender port, because this cruise had three tender ports and extra bus trips to get to the destination it took away the enjoyment of going ashore but in saying that we still had a great cruise but would check the itinerary carefully before choosing this ship again

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No problem, 30 minutes from taxi to cabin

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food in the main dining room(concerto) was generally good but sometimes lacked gluten free choices, the same applies to the buffet ( even less GF choices) but otherwise good

Alfredo's Pizzeria

5 out of 5

Excellent pizza, excellent staff, not much more to say

Bellini's

5 out of 5

Staff were fantastic, Rosie is a star, the team here were better fun than the entertainment staff, only small downside is the noise from the atrium activities can be overpowering

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Walking, mini golf, outdoor gym equipment, only downside was no compleatbaround the ship walk but not a big deal

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Mostly forced, old hat stuff that has been done since cruise ships began, line dancing, YMCA, 10 customer questions, the doctors waiting room etc , even the production shows have been going so long the cast looks bored and disinterested, also bingo, karaoke, hairy chest competition, becoming more like a hi de hi camp than a luxury cruise

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As usual, Princess bar staff, waiters and room stewards are the highest quality and are probably the main reason we keep returning to Princess

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout is different from other ships and doesn’t work well in several respects, no crows nest lounge, no bar in the Vista lounge, lack of indoor quiet areas, they all have foot traffic passing through them, the atrium bar, and the two other bars are impossible to talk at/ in when anything is going on in the atrium ( almost non stop), in saying that the common areas were very clean and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
No complaints, very comfortable, clean and. In perfect working order

Ship tip

Make sure you use the pizzeria at least once

Ports of call

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Boarded here, one of the best ports in the world

Brisbane, Australia

2 out of 5
Ship too big, had to dock in a grain wharf, long walk off, then pay for bus to city, not worth the money, time or effort for a short visit

Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia

5 out of 5
Lovely place but spoiled by having to wait in a massive queue after a nice day out, this is due to the ships size or being able to dock in many piers of call resulting in long waiting times for tenders

Yorkey's Knob (Cairns), Australia

5 out of 5
Again pay for bus into town ($20) and again long waiting times for bus and tender to get back onto the ship

Port Douglas, Australia

5 out of 5
Great place but once again long queues getting off and back on the ship

Cruise Willis Island, Australia

5 out of 5
Very interesting, did not go there but cruised around the Island and had commentary from the resident weather crew ashore

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, 30 minutes from gangway to taxi
