Review summary

Loved these ports of call. We missed Messina due to weather, but we'll go back.

Ship is new, but there are still some odd designs. Probably no perfect ship.

Service was either spot on or off, so some work to do there.

Great room. Front of the boat so it can limit your balcony usage due to winds. However, based on feedback, the size of the balcony was fantastic compared to those on the side of the ship.

Ship tip

Check out the bar at the back of the boat. Rarely crowded, great scenery and service.

Plan to hit Herculeum first, before the buses arrive. Then go to Pompeii and hit the high points first. You will absolutely run out of time regardless. Spend as much time at Pompeii as you can.

Use the Hop On Hop Off as your transportation from the peer. There's a shuttle from the boat to the pick up spot.

Messina was a dirty disappointment. I recommend an excursion or don't bother getting off the ship.

I'm booked for itinerary but on the Royal Princess and I am excited to visit Messina port. I hope I don't have same experience. When was your cruise scheduled to dock at Messina?
