10 Night Southern Caribbean Seafarer (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)
Sail Date: March 25, 2007
Ship: Maasdam
Cabin Type: Inside
Traveled As: Couple
Reviewed: 7 years ago
The Maasdam is an older, elegant ship with very classic designs and functions. It was nicely refurbished to bring it up to date. It is not glitzy and overdone at all. Some of the carpeting in public and stateroom areas could stand to be replaced and the tiling in the staterooms needs to be replaced as well. Otherwise, this ship was a pleasure to be on !

This is a beautiful ,lush island for flora ! It does not have much else to offer at this time besides the tour of the island and river rafting.

Always fun to shop here. Taking the ferry over to St. John's is always a treat too. Taking an excursion to tour the island or go to Maegan's Bay is grand.

Great to see the difference in this island from the others farther north. It's drier, more arid climate makes for a different kind of touring.
Don't Miss: Don't miss the opening of the large swing bridge when the large ships come into port right through the city!

Great for beaches. Also arid,desert-like and so different from the other islands farther north. We arrived in port on Sunday and everything closes by 2:00 and some shops never even opened! We took and morning tour and had no time to shop after our return ! We were not aware of this Sunday "tradition" in Aruba!

Pros: We especially enjoyed the relaxed and easy going atmosphere that was created by the "well oiled" staff and crew. Everything works like clockwork;seemingly flawless...even when the weather doesn't cooperate and a port has to be cancelled! The staff and crew get right to work to create a fun-filled da

Cons: The Maasdam is an older ship and although very nicely refurbished, some of the bathrooms in the staterooms could have used an update with newer tiling and towels.

Recommends Maasdam? Yes!
