A good start by keami

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed my very first cruise vacation!  The food quality in main dining hall is just consistently and exceptionally good.  The room service is attentive, friendly and the bed is always made perfectly after a day's activities.  However, the interactive TV in the cabin is quite slow and outdated.

Overall a pretty good cruise by tdurfield

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall this was a very good ship with a very good crew. We were a little disappointed when the 13 of us (that booked with the same agent) got to our first dinner and we're scattered throughout the dining room at four different tables. RCL (head waiter) did their best to fix the problem and ended up seating us at two tables (a table of 8 and a table of 5). We were very disappointed with some if the ships excursions. As an example, in the Grand Cayman Island the 13 of booked a trip to the 7-mile beach which ended up just being a $65 shuttle ride to a beach that would have otherwise been a $4 taxi ride. Finally, on disembarkation day, the ship was unable to dock because of heavy fog. The ship sat in the gulf for an extra 5 hours. Many people were upset because the ship was not prepared to handle this situation. Thousands of people trying to eat. No bars open. Staff trying to clean the rooms to prepare for the next group of people. It was a mess! Although we carried off our bags, we didn't get off the ship until 2:30. We missed our flight and had to reschedule two times (incurred change fees). RCL has dealt with fog in Galveston on past cruises and should have been prepared to handle this matter better. It's ashame that a good 8- day was capped off with a horrible disembarkation.

Nice ship, great activities, constant sales pitches by cruiseconsult

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Ship was clean, with plenty to do including exceptional onboard activities that included numerous pools, slides, surf boarding, and even an ice rink. The evening entertainment was first class along with the food in the main dining room. For a ship this large with over 4,000 passengers and 1,100 crew, I rarely felt crowded or herded. The ports of call including Costa Maya, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Falmouth, Jamaica were all very nice with decent options for shore excursions. This is where the problems started...the shore excursion staff onboard sold us a bill of goods for one of our excursions in the Grand Caymans, sold us a nice tour on a comfortable coach bus but delivered us a taxi packed in like sardines with no apologies about it (even though I specifically asked a bout the logistics and mode of transportation). Also onboard the ship, I did not expect to feel like I was a customer on the corner used car lot with dozens of used car salesmen, err, Royal Caribbean revenue managers, eager to sell me something - anything. And, when I did buy, like spa services or jewelry, they would spend the next 20 minutes trying to upsell me on something bigger, better, fancier. This was particularly disturbing in the Spa where you go to relax...it's hard to relax after spending $600 on a massage while constantly being told you need to add this and that. This was my 4th cruise, my first was Holland America to Alaska. My second was Norwegian around the Hawaiian Islands. My previous was Disney Bahamas. And now Royal Caribbean. I really wanted to like Royal Caribbean because it offers everything I want in a cruise experience and a perception of good value with a reasonable sticker price. But in the end, they nickel and dime you to death. Everything, and I do mean everything, costs extra. You want a soda package? $8 per day per person - not bad.  Oh, you want water with that...Oh, that's $28 per person per day...Oh, you want a beverage with that...make it $60 per person per day (there were 6 of us times 8 days + 18% gratuities).  Oh, you want that food?  It's premium, it's $24.95 extra. You want wifi?  No problem, that's only $17.99 per device per day. I could go on and on...Looking back, did I enjoy the trip?  Yes. Should I have paid the price up front and gone with Disney and had a much better overall experience? Absolutely.

Great cruise by Niner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

Had a fun 8 days on Liberty of the Seas. Service was very good, especially in the dining room and by out cabin steward. The entertainment in the main show room was extremely good, as was the ice show. Excursions could have been better but were okay. We had a few issues with our bill and Guest Services was quick to make corrections and made it easy to handle these issues. Really enjoyed having the shopping rep help us out. Also, I appreciated Doc Reynolds who was our rep at . He's always a great help and gives me confidence in booking my trips from the beginning until it's time to leave.

Amazing EVERYTHING by EarleMyers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Granted, this was our first cruise, so we didn't come into it with any realistic expectations.  A lot of our trip prep was just making sure we got to the ship on time, as we had to travel a day and a half by car to get to the port.  And since everything we could was paid for in advance, we just enjoyed the whole adventure!  Both and Royal Caribbean helped us with some on board cash which almost completely covered all the staff tips which RC charges at the end of the trip (very nice!).  Everything was GREAT, from 's help in setting it all up and making the payments in advance (thanks Junette!), to all the amazing and helpful staff on the boat.

The only thing just slightly negative was the Galveston port condition, which we actually don't count because it really was purely aesthetic and had nothing to do with the cruise or any of the service, the parking, getting to and from the ship, etc.  All was grand!

We did zip lining in Roatan, which was great!  Highly recommended!  The cave tubing in Belize was also a blast.  In Cozumel we did a sailing/snorkeling excursion which also was amazing.  Reflecting, I think it was the guides who really made each excursion extra special.

Thank you , and thank you Royal Caribbean!

Royal Carribean is the best by emilyanneguerra

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoy sailing with Royal opposed to any other cruise line due to the fact for me and my husband we don't have kids and it's respected by the pool side. The caring staff and the food. The main reason it's possible is for and the great deals.

Getting to big by pgar2151

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

It is impossible to move that many people around without long lines.  The Port of Galvanston with two large ships at the same time is horrible.  Debarking was so bad it ruined the whole trip

Liberty of the Seas Cruise. by DaveAnderson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Liberty of the Seas is a comfortable ship, but it lacks some of the amenities and venues of other Royal Caribbean. For example, it does not have an Izumi

Restaurant . The crew was exceptional, especially out table waiters and the room attendant. The food ranged from average to very good. It was not up tp the standards of other RC cruises we have been on.

The stop in Belize is a disaster with the requirement of a 35 min. tender trip each way. RC gives priority to excursions booked through them so we were an hour late on the tender. Luckily, they waited for us, but that was not fair to the other people on the excursion. I understand RC is not going to stop in Belize next year. Cozumel was great with the new International Marketplace right at the dock. All in all, a very relaxing cruise, but the stops in Roatan and Belize

do not have much to commend them.

Loved balcony by dianesmsmith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved our balcony.  Food serviers and stateroom attendant were great.  The ice show was very good.  I would pay for tips in advance next time.

Food was a disappointment and not as good as in the past.  Music was another disappointment and not very varied.  Piano bar was promised but non-existant except for one spanish gitar who was the same every evening.

Too many people everywhere.  I would think twice before choosing Royal Caribbean again and would prefer a smaller ship will less people.

Bad Experience for First Time Cruise.... by dswalke2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My father purchased this cruise for my family as a Christmas gift. He was able to get a very good room rate and some good promotions: Paid gratuities; $75 on board credit from Royal Caribbean; $75 matching credit from the travel agent; Free specialty dinner for two; Kids sail free; $25 on board credit from Royal Caribbean for first time cruisers from the Crown and Anchor Society.

While all of this looked good when the three rooms were booked, none of the credits materialized during the cruise. My dad spoke numerous times during the cruise to guest services and the crown and anchor ambassador about the credits....was always told they had limited access or ability to do anything; that they had to call the main office in Miami, which finally said there was no record of credits to be made and that my dad had to prove such a thing to make it valid otherwise. I guess they thought my dad was making this up or something. Anyway, after seeing how he was treated, I will NEVER use Royal Caribbean again.

No one seemed to care that we were frustrated, confused, stressed out, about all this....which boils down to being lied to by the cruise line. I'm not sure how Royal Caribbean got to be the top cruise line based on what I have witnessed on this our first cruise. Yes, they may have all the latest, fancy ships, but service means everything and that is lacking from what I saw on this, my first and now last, cruise with Royal Caribbean.

Oh, I almost forgot....had to pay for one of my children in order to board the ship....they claimed my 14 month old owed $30.40 that was not paid for during the reservation of the rooms. Kids sail free, I asked....was told that only covers two children. This was never disclosed during the reservation process.

Great Cruise by Cruised86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship was very nice. There was a good variety of shows and all the shows attended were nice. The crew all provided excellent service, whether the staff assigned to us, such as room steward, or main dining room staff, or just the general staff throughout the ship

Loved it! by casswilson85

We had such a great time on the Liberty! Everyone was wonderful!! Josip and Alberto in the main dinning room were awesome. I'm a sucker for towel animals, so my room attendant Antonio made sure I had one every night!

first timer by jlarsen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise ever. We will be back. There was plenty to do on the ship. Getting off and back on the ship on port days was very organized. Our excursions were well planned and guides were friendly and helpful. They deserve good tips! I was impressed by the attention to our room, ship entertainment, activities, dining service, tableside visits from the head waiter, Daniel, overall pleasantries from the crew. I wish I could easily visit our waiters on a regular basis

Great cruise/Great Boarding/Horrible Disembarking by cjwood1982

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean  is the best!! Boarding and check in was seamless. On the  ship in 15-20 minutes  from pulling  up to the terminal. We are platinum  so was a little  faster but friends  with us were only about 5 minutes  more. Great  food. Outstanding  shows. Great service. Only issue was at the end after we got off the ship at the terminal. We had to drag ALL of our bags through  a huge line. Porters were practically  non existent. It was  very inconvenient  and took a VERY LONG TIME.

Great Week on the Liberty of the Seas by jeffarionus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Left Galveston, TX on a cloudy and windy day, boarding went very smooth for the amount of people on the ship. As soon as boarded went to the 14th floor to Olive and twist to watch the ship depart.  *Highly recommend.* Get their early We had the unlimited drinking packaging so needless to say it made cruise enjoyable as well.  All ports were great.  Roatan we got a taxi and went to the west end and snorkeled from Dix food and bar on the beach.  Their is a small reef right off shore. Very fun time.  Belize we went cave tubing with cavetubing.BZ.  WOW what a great trip.  We also did the zip lining and the served us food and drinks. As you can tell we did not book any excursion through the cruise ship.  It is so much cheaper to do these on your own.  Just do your homework and reviews. We are adventurous and don't need a guide anyway.  In Cozumel we got a taxi and went to paradise beach.  It used to be a great place to get away from the other cruisers but now is over run with them.  We will have to find a new place that is less crowded. Back to the ship.  The over condition of the ship is still great.  They take care of it well.  The only negative I can think of is the smoke that comes from the Casino as night. It comes all the way to the theater in the front of the ship.  Other than that great trip and great vacation.  Highly recommend. One last thing.  The best server in the main dinning room was Jesus in the Rembrant.  Tried a couple and went back to him for the rest of the cruise.  Also Ariel in the Olive and Twist is the best bar tender.  He will definitely take care of you.  Caio

very poor by hsmount3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After about 50 cruises, this was the worst.  There is no "anytime dinning", the dining service was extremely slow, the menu selections were very poor. Entertainment: Two stage show were good, balance were comics that were

passable only.
