Review summary

I enjoyed my very first cruise vacation!  The food quality in main dining hall is just consistently and exceptionally good.  The room service is attentive, friendly and the bed is always made perfectly after a day's activities.  However, the interactive TV in the cabin is quite slow and outdated.

I have never sailed out of Galveston but I have sailed past it.  One of my only complaints about Princess cruise line was that the one cruise that I took with this company, I had to wait a very long time to board because the personnel in the terminal kept adding others to the front of my line.  I have never sailed again with Princess for this reason. I don't mind waiting in line like everyone else but to add others continually from other non existing lines, was annoying.  So a poor experience at embarkation can affect how a person feels about a cruise line.  In my case it was Princess.  Also heavy traffic around a port and long lines to enter the terminal can also cause frayed nerves. Some cruise lines are working to alleviate such problems and I hear they are working.

I don't see where the OP bashed Galveston, only an icon that indicates that the OP didn't much care for it, as is the case with many ports of origin (always a line, security, waiting to start the vacation, and possibly fog in the winter).

I believe that Galveston is one of the better ports, with shopping within easy walking distance from the port, parking right across the street from the port at an affordable price, decent enough facility inside the port, and plenty of friendly people.

Whoa, another Galveston-basher. Plan: fly to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, New Orleans, San Diego--ANYWHERE that isn't in Texas. Horrible place!
