We went on 10/7 out... by Mannycooper

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

We went on 10/7 out of Galveston. While there was great service from the crew we encountered, we felt there weren’t many activities going on of our liking. Or if we want to do something like a dream works character, 80’s night you had to be there on time because usually 15 minutes later it was over. We mentioned this to an employee who said that Carnival was more of a party cruise and Royal Caribbean was more of a quite cruise so that is why there weren’t many activities. They had most of their game shows or karaoke in a much smaller venue so people were always left standing. The captain handle Hurricane Michael greatly and got us out of harms way with only a day or less of motion. The rest of the cruise was smooth sailing. Food was acceptable at best. Burgers were always over cooked. We would ask for steaks well done, and they were always medium. Figuring we would have a good burger at Johnny rockets we went and paid $11.74 per person. While the service, chili cheese fries, and onion rings were awesome. Everything else didn’t make it worth the extra cost. On the positive side we didn’t gain weight like we do on Carnival. We enjoyed all of the ports we arrived at Honduras, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. In our stateroom We had problems with our toilet not flushing and when it did flush the water was full of black particles. We called maintenance and front desk on many occasions they would say they would send someone over and again the toilet would flush. However The black water I was told was because there wasn’t any cold water and there was nothing they could do about it. So the whole cruise we had toilet water full of black particles and our toilet would flush occasionally. We were offered $39 credit on a future cruise for our inconvenience. Needless to say I will not be rushing to book another Royal Caribbean cruise.

We have sailed on Liberty... by CaptinRick

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

We have sailed on Liberty 3 times out of Galveston TX . One trip was Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaca , another was Roatan , Beliez , Cozumel, & the most recent was Roatan, Costa Maya , Cozumel. We have done inside cabins, and most recently a Starboard forward balcony. The ship has always been clean & well maintained. The staff has always been top notch & pleasant. Usually we do early dining & then the first show. Every cruise is a different adventure, and sometimes there are hiccups. As many have posted, a cruise is what you make of it. So far we have never had a bad cruise. We like to get off at each port & go exploring. Sometimes with RCCL booked excursions, & sometimes we just wing it & take a cab to the beach in the morning & then spend the afternoon strolling town , visiting restaurants to sample the local cuisine & perhaps a couple adult beverages.. LOL. We typically do not purchase any drink plans, & just buy a drink on board when we really want one. While we have sailed on Princess in Alaska twice, & Carnival three times, we seem to feel comfortable on RCCL. This September we are booked on Enchantment for two five day B2B cruises out of Galveston & are looking forward to making new friends ! I hope we see some of you there :-)

Excellent Cruise! Love Royal Caribbean! by AlmostRetired58

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The main reason me and my wife like the Liberty of the Seas is because of the Royal Prominade. The port of Galveston, being in our back yard so to speak, doesn’t hurt either. Most of the larger ships with Royal Caribbean has it so we tend to favor the Royal Caribbean cruises. When there it gives you the feel of being in a mall, not a ship. It’s a great place to hang out and relax or party. Plenty of places to get a snack or drinks. And yes, if you want to shop it has you covered. We don’t put much emphasis on the cabin because we don’t spend a lot of time there and it is fairly typical of most cruise ships. There is one exception though. We insist on having a balcony cabin. The natural light makes all the difference in the world. The amenities are typical also with other ships with one exception, “The Flowrider!” It is a surfing simulator that affords you the luxury of surfing without the ocean. It’s very fun and exciting to ride, although, if you are not feeling adventurous or courageous, it’s fun to watch other people do it. We had dinner in the main dining room several nights and, for the most part, the food was pretty good. I guess that boils down to a matter of opinion. With that said, I would highly recommend the lobster, prime rib and lamb chops! OoLaLa! This time around we skipped the shows. We cruised the Liberty before and didn’t care for the show we saw (Saturday Night Fever). There was other entertainment we wanted to see and do but didn’t get around to it (comedian, disco night in the Royal Prominade) Overall it was a very good cruise for us. Since we gamble and have a high proclivity to drink a variety of alcohol, Royal Caribbean offered us a free cruise on the Liberty in December and we accepted. It is not entirely free of course. We will have to pay port fees, taxes and gratuities. Needless to say it is still a great deal for a week long cruise. If cruising is your thing, I would definitely recommend the Liberty of the Seas or any of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships, the Navigator or larger.

Excellent cruise with friends who were first-timers. The Captain avoided Hurricane Michael completely. We had success with both private and Royal Caribbean excursions.

I would say that Royal... by jenkifam62

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

I would say that Royal Caribbean lacks a “wow” factor when compared to Disney. RC simply failed to impress me in any facet. I loved that we were on a cruise and on vacation but beyond that, RC was a step down from Disney. The food was good, but not great. The specialty dining was not any better quality than main dining. The ship was nice but not amazing. The staff was adequate but didn’t go the extra mile. I also thought that I’d save $$$ compared to Disney, but it wasn’t a significant savings if any at all. You pay more up front with Disney, but aren’t charged for the ticky-tack things like soda. The character breakfast was a joke. Dreamworks should be ashamed at how RC presents their brand. RC pretends to cater to kids but they don’t. The shows were good but not pristine. They definitely weren’t family friendly. I did like the surf and stream internet package. The pizza at serrentos was a step above Disney. The water related activities were wonderful. I will likely never cruise RC again. I simply prefer Disney’s magic.

I just got off a... by jruval97

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

I just got off a 7 day on liberty and I had an amazing time. All our servers were excellent. Everyone was so attentive and nice. Plenty of shows for all ages, activities, sports competitions, as well as clubs for any kind of music you’re into. The food was amazing. Main dining room had many options throughout the week, but I always went with steak. The casino was probably the highlight of my trip. Left winning $500 ! Just a beautiful ship throughout. We went over to Next Cruise and booked another cruise for October 24,2019 9 day cruise out of Cape Liberty, NJ.

Ship was very clean and... by blampley

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

Ship was very clean and the staff were amazing, probably some of the best I have ever experienced. Was way more laid back than Carnival, sometimes a little too laid back though lol. Food was excellent. Drinks we a tad pricey I thought. The ports of call were great, definitely swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Balcony room was a little tight but would be ok for just two. Really gets aggrivating with the nickle and dime for extras, like you didnt just pay a grand price for the trip they try and dock you for more. Attended the DreamWorks character breakfast, very disappointing, two characters showed. Figured all of them would since it was an extra fee to attend. Overall it was a very nice trip though. If you want to just veg out and relax I highly recommend.

Ship: Liberty of the Seas

We’re on Liberty of the Seas. The crew has been wonderful and the entertainment great! I would highly recommend this ship. The ports have been Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. The excursions we’ve taken were good. Our stateroom 9644 is a Junior Suite and quite spacious. A great location near the elevators and 2 flights up is the Windjammer

Just returned from our 7-day... by jroth101

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

Just returned from our 7-day cruise on Liberty of the Seas to Roatan, Belize & Cozumel.  The ship is beautiful and clean, the staff is courteous and lots of fun scheduled events. Have seen other comments about how the staff is rude.  I never encountered any of that. Our first night we did the Mystery Dinner Theater. It was silly but a lot of fun.  It starts out in the Star lounge and ends at Giovanni’s Table.  The food was excellent.  Wine was included, and they never let the glass get empty. We had requested early seating and a table for two for dinner when be booked the cruise. But somehow ended up with My Time dining.  It all worked out because on the first sea day we spoke to the dining room manager and he told us that if we liked the table we were given on the first night to let them know and they would make a reservation for that table for every night for the rest of the cruise.  Our waiter Shelton was excellent as was the assistant Ziying. They were both very attentive and remembered all our likes/dislikes. After the first night they were making recommendations for dishes based on our conversations and orders from the first night.  One night out of curiosity I asked what was on the kids’ menu.  Shelton brought me the kids menu and my wife made a comment to me about how it had a brownie on it, I love brownies. Shelton heard us talking about it and brought me a brownie along with the dessert that I had ordered. They had several tables to take care of but still managed to make us feel like they were there to just take care of our needs. We saw the Saturday Night Fever show. It was very good.  Recommend getting there early.  We arrived about 15 minutes before the show and the Platinum Theater was packed. We managed to get decent seats, but it took some searching
