Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was a fun cruise, but I will go back to Carnival because I prefer their food and ship layout.

It was good. by Mardimelt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

The cruise overall was great. Wish there were more free food options. You shouldn't have to pay extra for a good burger at Johnny Rockets.

Liberty from Galveston was only... by KofiNaija

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

Liberty from Galveston was only ok. It really lived up to the notion many have that Royal is boring. It was by far the most boring Royal sailing I have been on. To its credit, the MDR had some of the best food of any Royal I have been on and the service throughout the ship was superb. Winners included beef short rib that melted in your mouth, a well presented grilled fish dish, lamb shank and the oxtails in the buffet. I always order the Indian entree along with a regular one in MDR. It's a good flavor balance. This sailing had a higher proportion of seniors and I would recommend this ship for older passengers. Vast majority of passengers are older Texans so you don't have the geographic and international diversity that you find on the Florida sailings. Lots of yalls and howdys. Also this was the most dressed down crowd I have seen on formal nights. Suits were rare. Shorts and tank tops were not unusual on formal nights. Embarkation and security lines were slow. There were plenty of scanners and lots of staff. It was just not well organized as far as separation of duties. They need to bring in some process engineers. Disembarkation was not the worst but not the quickest. Seems a larger number of passengers in Galveston were traveling with birth certificates, so the border lines moved slowly. You have a family of 5 all with certificates takes time for agent to review. Also at disembarkation, they are more aggressive than other ports in trying to get you to pay taxes on alcohol and cigarettes. So don't exit with those in view. Pack in your luggage. This ship feels crowded most of the time. Oasis class ships feel a lot less crowded than Liberty even with more passengers. The cabin was roomy. Had balcony. Two electrical sockets. The night club "Olive or Twist" was a total yawner. The DJ was weak with awkward mixes and a stale playlist. The band at Boleros was good. The bar service is excellent. The theater entertainment was largely corny. A juggler, some singers. The female comedian was a riot--best entertainment they had. If there are younger people who like a decent night life, and are debating a Galveston sailing, you will probably have more fun on Carnival Vista. Better yet, head to Miami and Lauderdale for your cruise. Liberty out of Galveston is a total snooze cruise. But for seniors, I would highly recommend the Galveston sailings.

First Time Cruisers Wonderful! by jjmcnames

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

All in all the cruise was I had hoped for. Some relaxation time, time on deck in the sun and of course the drink in the pineapple. The main dining room was a great experience, all kinds of food to try and encouraged to do so. The personnel were wonderful, just adding to the trip No complaints here!

First cruise, but not the... by Mree

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

First cruise, but not the last! Had such a wonderful time that we've decided to do this same cruise again. The staff was amazing. Great service, but also willing to joke with us and include us in things like a birthday surprise. Never laughed so much as I did on the Liberty of the Seas.

Amazing Adventure! by Mree

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a blast! Will be doing another cruise in the future. The staff, the ship, the excursions, the shows, everything was top quality. The best part was how friendly and open the staff was, including us a birthday surprise for another guest, etc.

Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I have been on 2 cruises now. We had such an amazing experience on the Royal Caribbean, Liberty Of The Seas the first time, we went on that exact same ship the 2nd time. We love it. The service is absolutely wonderful. All of the staff is so kind and try so hard to accommodate us in every way. We love the Royal Caribbean. We are going to continue cruising with them every year.

Awesome Cruise in February by sam2290

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time and hated for it to end. The last day which was a sailing day was a tad rough but nothing you could do about that. All the preparation for the entertainment, food and activities on board deserve a HUGE applause.

Will go back to Carnival. Not heavy partiers but not dead yet either. Our group of 13 and all want Carnival. Maybe it was just Liberty but not gonna chance it.

This was an amazing cruise.... by pinkfirefly

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

This was an amazing cruise. We had people from 16-72 years old with us, and everyone had a blast. The food was good, the cabins were nice, and there were plenty of activities for everyone onboard to have a good time. I was surprised by just how many elderly passengers were on this ship, but that didn't stop us younger cruisers from having a good time. Elevators tended to be crowded before dinner and after shows, but with that many passengers onboard, that was to be expected. My group also ate at every specialty restaurant except for Sabor. (We are from Houston, so we are picky about our Mexican food.) Hands down, we loved Chops the best, but felt that Giovanni's and Johnny Rockets were well worth the money. My only criticism was the appearance of floor carpets on deck 6. They need to be cleaned badly. Other than that, wonderful!

So it has been 2... by Brandysarran

Sail date: /
Ship: Liberty of the Seas

So it has been 2 days since we disembarked the Liberty of the Seas. And wow what a wonderful experience. Our main dining room wait staff was awesome. Gabriel, Jeffrey and Hendrix were wonderful and accommodated our large party of 21 and went above and beyond and really made our experience memorable. The ship was beautiful and Jennifer in photos was always there to take our beautiful photos, she was so sweet. I really don't have anything negative to say other then the DJ was not good in the nightclub and was rude when I requested a certain type of music since we were sailing on a Caribbean sailing I would have liked to hear more music from the islands. He looked at me rude when I requested Soca Music since the teen pop crap he was playing. Other then that we still enjoyed ourselves. I wished we would have booked excursions at our ports of call. The tendering process was a nightmare in Grand Cayman we were not allowed off the ship until 10:30am but the tendering process didn't actually get on the island until 1pm which only left us with 3 hours to get back on the ship. My only suggestion would be for tendering ports should be longer since the process is so laboring.

Fun time by lindsayjean83

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Liberty of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall a good trip for our first time cruising with kids. Feel like this boat had an older crowd, although people were very nice to our young kids. Cozumel and Grand Cayman were amazing but Falmouth, not so much.
