Review summary

We had a good time but I feel the ship was overcrowded. There were too many people and lots of kids. There seemed to be a problem with the teens running around, starting trouble, taking people's door decorations off and starting fights. There was also never any chairs by the pool by 9am. They were all "reserved" with towels but no one was around. I was told to tell a RC staff member because saving chairs isn't allowed but there wasn't anyone around to tell. Although we had a good time, my husband and I decided we are just not "cruse people."

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth other than lots and lots of people!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We never made it to the main dining room. We are not "foodie" people and have very picky eaters in our family so we stuck to the Windjammer buffet and everyone was satisfied.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was something for everyone. The only problem was there was way too many people and it was chaotic at times.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were great and there were plenty of them. A comedian, a magician, an ice show, a broadway-type show....all were done well.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was friendly and did their best to take care of anything we needed. They would remember our names and greet us by name.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
You always saw people cleaning common areas and wiping down high touch points.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Perfect size for 2 of us. The bed was not the most comfortable but not terrible either.

Ship tip

Do a lot of research on the ship. Follow other peoples tricks and tips. It really helped.

I agree with others about cruising when school is in session. Summer and cruising....always full of kids, teens and college age. Princess, Celebrity and higher end lines are definitely for folks with grown children (our age). Don't give up on cruising!

Appreciate your detailed feedback. The cruising experience isn’t for everyone. I hope you have another chance to try it when most schools are in session. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the deciding it may not be for you.

I avoid cruising in the summer to limit the number of kids onboard.

A carribbean cruise in summer will have lots of kids. Royal and a few other lines attract families with kids due to the water activities. Also, the cruise lines count 2 to a room as full capacity, so the ship will seem more crowded with many cabins having 4 people. Cruising is a wonderful vacation we have been on 35 cruises. Some with our 4 kids, and now they are grown up, we enjoy sailing as a couple.

We have been cruising with Royal Caribbean for 20 years, and the cruises have always been wonderful, however, there always seems to be a problem with not enough deck loungers . Pretty soon, cruisers will be saving chairs at midnight. There needs to be a change.

Please try another cruise line before you give up on cruising and don’t cruise while the kids are out of school. Thanks for sharing your experience.
