Don’t plan on cruising on Royal Caribbean again. Have cruised probably 5 times before with them, but the quality has really changed—not what I remembered.
Seems like they are really cutting corners in entertainment area and quality of food in dinner experience in main dining. I guess they are focusing on new mega ships they are building. Sadly a ship with 4000+ passengers is just too much for me to enjoy!!
(I did like the way they do the safety drill info now over the past!)

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Sadly buffet was better than main dining room. Not the quality seen in the past. Buffets had a good variety of food to choose from.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Kids enjoyed two slides by flow-rider.
Give up on lame belly-flop contest.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Areas to watch karaoke was too crowded—had to go at least 45 minutes early to get a seat.
Name that Tune was offered same time every evening so early seating diners couldn’t see it.
I would give this a 1 but the Saturday Night Fever production was outstanding! Ice skating show was very good as well. These deserved a 5 star rating, so it raised my rating to a 3 overall.
Children's Programs

My 9 year old grandson loved it! Couldn’t wait to go when they were open. My 14 year old seemed entertained, but not as much as the younger grandson.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Main waiter in dining room was good, but seemed assigned to too many tables. Drink server struggled, didn’t seem very experienced.
Rarely saw room steward, but he did a good job of servicing our room with towels, cleaning, and supplying ice for us each evening.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was overcrowded and saw dirty glasses sitting around in odd places where guests misplaced them.
Bathrooms seemed well kept.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Four in our room—too crowded.
Cabin was kept clean by steward.
Ship tip
I have sailed on this ship in the past. It just wasn’t what I had expected from before. Dated carpet. Royal Caribbean seems to be going downhill-reminded me of two Carnival cruises I took 20 years ago, which I would never cruise on again.
Very disappointed as the water park was sold out! Tried to book a week before cruise and was told 10,000 people (2 ships) would be there and had never had a sellout before. What?
Went anyway and enjoyed the free beach, activities, and food there in spite of not getting to do the water park.
Liberty of the Seas is definitely showing her age. I hope RCL gives her an Amplification soon to keep up with sister ships Freedom and Indy.
That said, I had a great time on Liberty in November and am going back in late January.
