Pretty good cruise but next time we do a bigger ship
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Easy as a Texas breeze.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Windjammer food almost inedible. I struggled to find good quality food for lunch most days and often had a 3/4 empty plate. Main dining room for dinner was ok, but portions small and not always served hot. Our meal at Chops was outstanding.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We liked the atmosphere in the Solarium. Noticed lots of people reserving seats by the pool on second sea, but they mostly sat empty until late morning. Staff needs to better enforce no saving rule.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All shows were wonderful, but for the show was 2 comedians that was weak.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Sometimes we felt ignored by staff, but this was balanced by others who went out of the way to be nice. My wife has food issues and the Main Dining Room staff worked hard to try and please her which was hard.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Our room (6473) was kind of worn and in need of renovations. The carpet and mirror hadn’t been cleaned when we checked in. One day we returned from an excursion to find the room untouched. We were promised the room would be made but it never happened until dinner time when we left the room.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
All original furnishings in need of a renovation. We noticed rust and mold in the bathroom.
Ship tip
We would consider the Ultimate dining plan next time to get better QUALITY food.
My favorite excursion/ adventure as we explored the underground Chaak-Tun cenotes through the ship. We went deep into the caves with a snorkel and mask with our expert guide, Luigi. It was awesome, although the crossing to/from Cozumel was very bumpy.
We book a LOCAL cave tubing excursion with Butts Up and loved it for half the price of the same excursion offered by the ship. They carried our tubes and stayed on the river longer. Lunch was good and transportation was excellent.
Easier disembarkation ever, but due to a broken gangway passengers had to exit at ground level with forklifts and lists of action that’s usually not an issue on other ships.
The bigger ships have newer rooms, better entertainment and food quality also. This was the consensus with a lot of RCCL cruisers we talked to on board.
