Review summary

Overall, the best family vacation we’ve ever been on. We were so pleased, we booked with Next Cruise onboard.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We opted to purchase The Key which doesn’t give you priority going through Security. There is a separate line to get checked in, but because the Staff was so efficient, everything went smoothly and we didn’t save any extra time than those who didn’t purchase the Key. We were told there was a separate line for Key members to enter the ship, there was not. But again, this did not prevent us from getting into the ship any faster. Once on board, there was someone holding a sign directing Key members to their free lunch. We enjoyed our lunch from Chops Grill.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Main Dining Room was always a treat. We were always greeted with helpful staff that walked us through the menu. The specialty dining experience at Chops was customer service on steroids. They made great recommendations and just knew what menu items would compliment eachother for an exceptional meal. I was hesitant to experience the buffet, but every time we walked through the doors there was so someone dancing and singing and just setting a great casual vibe for dining. The food options were unbelievable and everything tasted good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Solarium Pools were nice and quiet, I had no idea there was music playing in the family/kid area which made it easy to have conversations. The fitness center was amazing and that rock wall was incredible. I couldn’t give this section five stars since the flow rider was out of service the entire cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were amazing however, I need to call out Carlos and his amazing singing at the Hoof and Claw pub. He was all the entertainment I needed on this trip. He is super talented!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Shout out to our room steward Ryan and all the other men who serviced deck 7. They are the hardest working people I know. They were always smiling, singing and in a good mood.

Cabin / Stateroom

This is an AFT cabin. The vibrations and on rough sea days the rocking put me right to sleep. Our balcony was huge. The Pullman bed took a little getting used to, but it all worked out.

Ship tip

Book shore excursions prior to port days, otherwise it’s overwhelming. Keep an eye out on drink packages, they change constantly. DO NOT skip paying your gratuities. These men and women work really hard to give you the best experience. If you run into a problem, ask for help, the staff is always willing to find an answer for you. This is an awesome ship. After a day of walking around we found our way around. If you get a chance to hang out on the helipad on deck 4 do it, its not always open. If you are traveling via plane to the port, arrive a day early, and leave yourself plenty of time to get back to the airport on debarkation day. Look up your cruise’s Facebook group and make new friends before your cruise.

Ports of call

We had a great time during our zip lining excursion. We had four hours to spare at the port and wanted to go to the beach. People were charging $40 a person to take a taxi. Which eventually went down to $5 per person. It was so overwhelming and the idea of random people driving me scared me so I went back to the ship. So plan ahead.

Cozumel, Mexico

We did the XTrail ride and the Jade Cenote swimming stop. The ride was cool. It took us four days to wash the sulphur smell out of our pores. Back at the port we shopped and ate authentic street tacos. We had an absolute blast. Can’t wait to go back. The water was so beautiful. Beach excursion next trip.

Belize City, Belize

We booked Starfish Island $69 per person. It included a 30 minute boat ride to a private island. Lunch was served. I though there would at least be a place for us to snorkel, there was not. While in the water for 10 minutes, we got out to walk around. Tried to go back into the water, but there tons of jelly fish. We ended up just napping until the boat came back to get us. Upside: There was ONE starfish that we found. (Outside is the swimming area)

Galveston, Texas

It’s Texas. ♥️

Disembarkation

Chaos. Lack of Communication. But overall, it was more the passengers being crazy. The staff did not know where the Key members needed to go. When I finally made someone help me) after waiting ten minutes, we were directed to where we needed to be.

Great review! The thing everyone needs to understand is that sometimes, things don't go the way you planned them. As you stated, if you need help or need info, ask the crew! They have always been willing to help whenever possible. I love you positive outlook! Thanks again for the great review!
