Review summary

We were Key Guests in an interior cabin. We took advantage of the upgraded embarkation and disembarkation meals, high-speed Internet, and priority port entry benefits. We had wonderful service from Irvin, our cabin steward. Our severs at all the restaurants were also attentive. Everyone was friendly and seemed to want us to have a great vacation. I appreciated their attention to sanitizing everyone and all the ship’s surfaces as well. The only major things I didn’t like were the lack of variety for breakfast time (I can get a drink 24 hours a day but not a burger?), the Falmouth port, and the constant upselling. I buy what I want ahead of time and don’t like having to explain this constantly to crew the first couple of days. I think Royal Caribbean offers the best value of the three lines I’ve tried so far. Good food, impeccable service, fun experiences, and comfortable beds in quiet cabins go a long way to making me happy, and with a little shopping around, you can’t beat the price.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The port crew and Royal Caribbean were great at getting me through wheelchair assistance. All went well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Restaurants were excellent. Buffet was ok. I don’t like that in the morning, there’s nothing but traditional breakfast food.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the adults-only pool area, fitness center, and trivia contests.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Enjoyed the stage shows. Comedians were hit or miss.

Children's Programs

We didn’t take children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was outstanding! Gianni, the head waiter, visited every night to ask about our dining experiences.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The only objection I have is being forced through a smoky casino as the shortest path. The overall sanitation was fastidious.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Bed was comfortable. Room was well maintained. It was cozy, and we were good with that since it’s mainly a place to sleep and shower. We prefer interior cabins because they’re dark and quiet.

Ship tip

Buy all your extras in advance to save money and time.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Historic with great food!

Cozumel, Mexico

Took the manatee shore excursion. Highlight of the cruise!

George Town, Grand Cayman

2 out of 5
The port area wasn’t great, but Grand Cayman was nice. Reminded me a bit of Bermuda but more Americanized. Took the Turtle Centre excursion.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
The port area was fine. Falmouth was not very welcoming of visitors. We took the trolley tour. Our guide and driver were wonderful; the other locals outside the immediate port area, not so much.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I needed wheelchair assistance and Royal Caribbean was fantastic! Arrived quickly and helped me with everything I needed.

Do you think The Key was worth it? Did you like the reserved seating, embarkation process, etc. with it?

FYI you can buy two internet access on one person's account for far less than even one key and share them as Royal C does not track them. We do it all the time.
