Overall, the cruise gets a thumbs up, but the Liberty of the Seas very much needs to be upgraded. These cruises cost way too much for the feel of it to be anything less than stellar.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Because we were in a Suite, we boarded first. We were really happy with this.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
All the food was great except for the buffet (wind jammer), we weren't always happy with the appearance or the taste of that food.
Chop's Grille

Sorrento's Pizza

Excellent Pizza!!!
Johnny Rockets

Food was very good!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We didn't participate in many onboard activities, but the putt-putt course is a death trap. The surface is absolutely horrible, you could very, very easily break an ankle on that surface.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We went to the dinner mystery theater (Giovanni's Grill) and we very much enjoyed it.
Service and Staff

SERVICE WAS OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was fine, but it seems a little dated!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Service was great, room size was great, it was clean, but it seemed dated!!
Very poor country, small amount of shops. Once you get past the initial shops, the place seems scary. I would only recommend doing Royal Caribbean sponsored excursions there.
Very disappointing that Belize City doesn't have a port for the ship to dock at. The only way to get to the city was to take one of the transport ships to the shore. My wife has bad knees and ankles so we decided to stay on the ship.
Liberty is set to get "amplified" (upgraded) in Feb of 2021. Her first cruise back is a scheduled for April 11, 2021. With that being said, glad you were able to enjoy most of your cruise and as stated prior, you booked during a holiday, the most expensive time to book. The best time to book is either February or Sept/Oct. Those are the cheapest months.
Time of cruise has a big effect on price. They can vary over 100% in cost from lowest to highest depending on time of cruise. Xmas cruise is very expensive. As far as no dock in Belize it lacks the depth needed for cruise ships. It would take a very long and very expensive dock.
There are ways for your trip to be less expensive. Book early, not over holidays, and don’t get a suite. While the suites may have some perks you have to weigh out if the cost is worth it. We were one of the first people on last cruise, we were not in a suite. So while you think you are first you probably aren’t. We were one if the first off.
The ship is only 12 years old and has been upgraded twice, most recently just 4 years ago. As far as the cost, it appears you cruised during Christmas week, the most expensive week of the year. Try cruising when school is in session and the cost will be up to 50% less.
