Review summary

Liberty of the Seas is a lovely ship. I enjoyed the Veteran Get Togethers and love that RCCL has them. The cruise director was great and very talented. We enjoyed the large venue shows. We found not buying the drink packages worked well for us. We had Crown and Anchor Gold status, so it was nice that we both got the 'perks' and were able to take advantage of them. We booked a second Trans-Atlantic with a back to back on a sister ship while on the Liberty.

Embarkation

It was similar to going through a deployment line at PRU except we didn't have to get blood drawn, get shots, have our chem gear inspected, and carry mobility folders.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good. They do try to appeal to every type of dietary needs, except it would be nice if there were more of a variety of choices for Keto, low carb, and diabetic diets.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

It's a buffet, so it's great. I love the variety of items. I don't love the rotten fish smell on Fish Fridays. That's okay, though, as there are other places to eat when fish is being served. ;)

Johnny Rockets

4 out of 5

We were able to take advantage of a couple of milkshakes courtesy of Crown and Anchor Gold membership. I remember going to Johnny Rockets at the KMCC at Ramstein Air Base, so it's kind of nostalgic for me. I love the 50s style diner with 50s style music playing.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Food was very good as was the service. It would be great to have some more diabetic, sugar free, Keto, and low carb menu options. My husband is insulin dependent diabetic, and there wasn't much on the menu he could actually eat. For dessert, he was pretty much relegated to the cheese plate. In spite of those issues, the wait staff are excellent and really try hard to accommodate.

Sorrento's Pizza

4 out of 5

The selection is very good. It's also where you can help yourself to hot tea and hot chocolate as well as ice and water.

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

This was probably the neatest area of the ship.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We explored the ship and took photos and videos. The neatest thing was the lightning at sea in the dark.

Logo Souvenir Shop

We like this place and bought some shirts here.

Guest Services and Explorations!

We booked a couple of cruises here. I should gripe about them bilking me out of so much money, but hey, I'm a sucker for cruising. :D

Skylight Chapel

This is a lovely place.

Center Ice Rink

The ice shows were really neat.

Entertainment

The large venue shows were amazing. The shows in the Promenade on the accessible only to crew members were great. It was neat seeing characters from Shrek.

Promenade

5 out of 5

This is probably the most beautiful area of the ship.

Studio B

This place was cold but otherwise, it was alright.

Platinum Theater

5 out of 5

The shows in this venue are amazing.

Children's Programs

We have no kids.

Service and Staff

Service was great.

Ship Quality

Ship is beautiful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a Guaranteed Balcony Stateroom. It was more than I would've expected, so I was happy with it. The only problem was it felt like we were sleeping on top of some motor as it shook underneath us, and I'd wake up with headaches. Despite that one thing, I loved our stateroom.

Ship tip

Take advantage of all the ship has to offer.

I enjoyed seeing this port. We venture on our own when we travel and try to see the local culture. There was a mission there where a woman was preparing meals for the local poor folks. There were a lot of trashy places but some really pretty places, too. We had folks try to sell us stuff and beg, but since we're retired Military and have been in far worse places, we didn't give them the time of day. My husband told them he had spent all his money on the cruise and had none to give them. When they would try to get my attention, I just kept on walking while still looking over my shoulder. A few called my husband some cuss words in Spanish. We noticed a young couple seemed to be following us, so my husband struck up a conversation with them. They were fellow cruisers, and having seen how we were with the locals, they decided to tag along with us. They may have regretted it as we walked to the airport, because I was in search of specific souvenir items. ;) I was also excited to see a few cats to pet. =^!^= I have seen some reviews talking about how scared some folks were to get out and see the local areas.

Belize City, Belize

I enjoyed seeing this place and, just as in other places, we ventured on our own.

Cozumel, Mexico

This was our second time here. We found a coffee shop and met another couple on the same cruise.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Our disembarkation area was cold and it seemed to take forever to get off. I'm still hooked on cruising, though. ;)
