I enjoyed my trip on Liberty of the Seas. It was what I needed to have peaceful getaway. I will likely cruise on her again and would encourage others to do so as well. She is a solid ship with plenty of amenities and features.
Overall I would say my experience was about 3.6-3.9 Stars
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Arriving at Port for embarkation was very smooth. The Porters were quick to shuffle my luggage to the Loading area. In no time at all I was able to queue up for the Security Screening. Screening took only about 15 minutes and was very professional. From the Security area I was able to walk to the check-in area and received my sea card. From the Check-in Area I walk through the waiting area and boarded the ship.
From the moment I stepped off the Shuttle to placing my Carry-on in my room took about 30 minutes. I should note this was the first Itinerary after Hurricane Harvey.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I was not impressed with the buffet. It seemed to be lacking in variety and quality. Much of the time I visited they had blocked off half the buffet making the lines unnecessarily long. Finding a seat that was also a challenge for the same reason.
Main dining was as expected, not extraordinarily but adequate for a good evening meal. Service in Main Dining was excellent except on one night when I had to wait at my table for about 20 minutes before even getting water.
The bars I visited were all good, quick to get a drink good service.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The ship has plenty of activities to do though I mostly used the pool.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Though I don't recall the name of the Main Show, I recall it being something you would be able to attend on Broadway or any other stage. I would have preferred something original or at least something I couldn't have seen elsewhere. However the quality of the performers on stage were very good and I was entertained.
I really enjoy the acoustic guitarist who was exceptional. Unfortunately I don't recall his name. You could tell that he had passion for his music and would even tell stories about certain pieces.
I wish the comedic performances were longer. It seems by the time the comedian warms up the crowd it is time for the show to end.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
My room steward was top notch. He had my name memorized after our first meeting. I reported an issue with my cabin and by the time I had returned it was fixed. My cabin was always kept clean and tidy.
I can say that I didn't have any issues with any staff members. All staff that I encountered were helpful and courteous.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
I got the impression that certain areas of the ship needed some sprucing up. Carpet was worn in some areas and some walls were a little dingy or needed some paint.
The flow of the ship was logical except that I coudn't walk the length of the ship on Deck 3, that was actually a little annoying. I like the views from Deck 4 I spent a lot of time looking out into the gulf.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
For one person that cabin was fine. I had plenty of room for all my belongings however, it may have been tight for a second person to hang clothes in the closet.
Though the room was clean and tidy, it would not be what I call new. I believe it would have done well with an update.
My ocean view window as dirty on the outside. However, it did get cleaned at one port but was quick dirty again. Likely because it was on deck 3.
Ship tip
I would recommend getting a cabin above deck 3. Having one would ease moving throughout the ship and getting back to the cabin without having to 'discover' ways.
The port seemed new, though I didn't spend too much time there. It was of reasonable size and had activities to do.
I went on a Jeep tour to a private beach. Though the Jeep portion was not much of a tour but rather a blazing fast drive down roads filled with pot holes for about 45 minutes. The beach was nice and even have a visit from a pod of dolphins.
To me Cozumel is the port which other ports should be rated. It is neither good nor bad but rather middle of the road. There was construction going on this visit.
Disembarkation on the ship went smooth I was able to quickly move to the port. However the port is where things slowed down considerably. I believe there was some confusion on where to direct disembarking passengers. Because of this confusion it permitted a few hundred passengers to short the line which delayed many other passengers. This caused the delayed passengers to become a bit irritable which made it stressful waiting in line.
