Review summary

We were sailing the week after Harvey and the week of Irma so a little nervous with all the hurricane reports. Our Capt kept us updated and it was smooth sailing for us. Liberty is a beautiful ship and easy to explore. The food was very good and the entertainment excellent. We will sail on this ship again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was extremely smooth. From the time we entered the terminal to opening our cabin door, it was less than 30 minutes. Our sailing did have a unique situation as the cruise before us had been cancelled so there was not the usual Sunday morning disembarkation of one group and embarkation of the next group.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had dinner in the main dining room every night and had excellent service and good food choices. The buffet variety was adequate but almost always very crowded and traffic flow was awkward. The only specialty restaurant we tried was Johnny Rockets and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The fitness center is well equipped and staffed; pool and hot tub not overly crowded on this particular cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We attended the Saturday Night Fever show, the skating show, and the ventriloquist and rate them excellent. The entertainment on the Promenade deck was always lively and fun

Children's Programs

Did not travel with children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We would have rated this 5 star except for bar service in the pool area. It was difficult to find a waiter and then delivery was slow. Our room steward was excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness was a 5 star. The only issue we had with the design was that there is no food service in the immediate pool area. You had to go into the Windjammer and then carry back to the pool. If you wanted pizza it meant going down to Promenade and then back up to pool area. We also found it inconvenient that there was no Morning coffee service on the sports deck/walking area.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin had a connecting door to the one next door and you could hear them talking and their baby who cried a lot. Our steward did try to muffle the sound by taping both sides and it helped a little but did not fix! Lesson learned: do not book this type room ever again!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Did not tour but it is an easy to find the port.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

2 out of 5
We did the VIP private tour and the low rating is not because of the tour, but just because of the limited activities available at this port. Also may have a low opinion because our credit card was compromised at either the hotel where we had lunch and did beach or the dockside bar where we had a drink before re boarding ship.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did the Mayan Ruins exclusive tour and found it to be excellent. Our guide, Cruze was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The port was just ok.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Our excursion was Discover Mexico chocolate tequila. Excellent and knowledgeable guide Katie. Shopping always good at this port

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We self carried and we're off the ship by 8:30. The waiting area was organized and entire process very smooth. Much better than searching for bags in the sea of luggage!
