Review summary

The majority of staff were amazing (except for kids programs). Food was good but not amazing. Amenities being closed frequently, causing huge crowds in other amenities was annoying and totally preventable. Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas was disappointing, but luckily there are many cruise lines out there for our family to explore.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation day was super easy. Everything went very smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Our biggest disappointment overall was the food on our ship. The servers in the dining room and buffet were exceptional! The food was super unsatisfying.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Activities on board the ship were completely lacking for all age groups. My tween was disappointed and bored. My social teens felt like a burden to the teen room staff. All three of our kiddos chose to stay with mom and dad (us) during the entire duration of the cruise, which meant zero alone time for mom and dad. The kids went to every trivia activity we attended. And besides the nightly stage show, trivia was really the only thing to do on the ship.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Stage shows were just okay. Musicians were okay. Maybe it just wasn't my style. Speakers were generally obnoxiously too loud.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
All three kids were so bored with the activities and spent the whole time with me and Hubby. They felt like they were being a burden on the intimidating kids area staff.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The highlight of the cruise ship was it's staff. They would be the ONLY reason we would return to Royal Caribbean. Food and drink service staff as well as our room steward were top notch! Kids programs staff were subpar.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Very limited shopping on board the ship. No financially conservative way to communicate with the rest of my party. Other cruise lines have $5 communication app. Ship staterooms seemed to be in dire need of updating. Not sure why 3 out of 6 hot tubs were closed each evening. The remaining 3 hot tubs that were open in the evening were crowded and packed to the brim. I never could figure out why they were closed so frequently.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Our cabin steward was absolutely amazing. He made our cabin as comfortable and lovely as possible. The cabin itself desperately needs new carpet. I didn't ever walk around without my sandals on. I enjoyed the connecting cabin ability (our family had 3 cabins total). I enjoyed being on a lower floor so we didn't get so seasick at night. It was very quiet at the end of our hallway.

Ship tip

During rough sea days the theatre is super rocky! Beware if you have balance issues. The skating rink seats are horribly uncomfortable. Find a seat near the end so you can get up and stretch often. The Schooner lounge was where we spent most chilly evenings. The top deck near the golf course has a secluded area with lounge chairs to sunbathe. Unfortunately, there is really no adult-only comfortable or luxurious lounge area.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Getting off the ship (we carried our own luggage) was super quick. There was no place to comfortably wait for our car service. Also, my child got seasick our last night and was vomiting the morning of disembarkation. The medical office onboard was not open for me to take her to get some attention. If guests are still on the ship the medical station needs to be open, especially for sick children.
