Review summary

It was a good cruise - but RC caused me to miss 3 critical business work days - is there anything the company can do to compensate? I dont want credit off future travel as it will be awhile before our next cruise. Thanks.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was fine - a little long.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Very well done - need Indian and Mexican options in main dining halls.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of options

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great - especially the comedian

Children's Programs

Our kids chose not to use it

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Sachen and Ajesh were absolutely awesome! We developed close rappport with them on the ship. They made it special. They were our waiter combination.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Yes - overall

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was clean - but little space for family of 4. Pull down beds worked out well.

Ship tip

Realize pack clothes sufficiently to not pay for clothing washing. Build a plan about what you will do before ship docks at ports.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

2 out of 5
Think poorly of it.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Great diving!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Ruins were not a good use of time, but the town is as interesting and snorkeling pretty good.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Adventure park was great - this was a great stop.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Because of the Hurricane, we were at Sea for 2 more days: the HQ should have diverted the ship to Miami 2 days earlier with the storm as bad as it was. Why were we the only ship that tried to go back to Galveston? That was a bad judgement call on the part of a Royal Carribean.

Yes, they will compensate you. For your future cruise, the will put in an emergency raft in your room, free of charge, so you can make it back to port even if the ship can't... thanks for sailing RCL.

We always cruise in Jan. and Feb. never in hurricane season

It seems that you are not getting much sympathy here. I get that it is a bummer what happened to you, but RCL has a responsibility to keep you safe. This led to a serious consequence for you, but there is no way that you are entitled to compensation from RCL for protection from a horrific act of God. Count your blessings and let it go.

you could have been here in Galveston/Houston with the rest of us living through the disaster.

I think that was HARVEY that made you lose work days... Not RC. Seriously!? It is called an Act of God.

Maybe they are thinking of compensating the company for the extra days? It's not like RC caused and is losing significant money as a result.

quadtrash    7 years ago

wow! Really? Compensation for keeping you safe?🤣🤣🤣

lgdavid    7 years ago

I agree. RC didn't cause you to miss those days. Did you expect them to give you a life raft to get to the port so you could swim to the closed airports?? You got almost a FREE WEEK cruise and you were safe and sound while other people were either loosing everything they had or drowning. Shame on you!

Carnival employee alert! No other cruise history.

Didn't you already get 5 or so days on the ship that you didn't pay for? That's like a free cruise. Sometimes it's better to make lemonade from lemons.

twangster    7 years ago

Haha, lol, rofl. How dare RC turn on the hurricane machine during your cruise.

to ple on this website won't work, this is not part of royal Caribbean LLC. you need to go and complain to the company it's self. You should be thankful to God that you were not in the path of the storm (Harvey). the other people are right, how ever this one was a early start to hurricane season and it would have been un avoided. so the blessings are in your court. 1 your safe. 2 your not a casualty or any one with you. 3. you got extra free days off fun. 4. your job is probably under water. so be thankful of the out come and not worried about compensation when you were safe. you should be praying for the one's who were in the path and didn't hy warning to leave.

Hmmm, that's really a silly question. RC had nothing to do with Harvey. I would suggest not cruising again, especially during hurricane season

RayofLife    7 years ago

Lol some people. Sorry they did there best to keep you safe. Next time don't cruise during storm season. And I alway plan a few days off after any vacation incase of delayed flights, bad weather or Heath issues. And you should be asking God for compensation. He cause the storm not RC. RC did there best to keep everyone safe.

compensation for what ? A hurricane? If you need to attend critical business at times during hurricane season i suggest not booking a cruise during that time. . Some people

butttercup    7 years ago

are you referring to the hurricane? if so then I suspect that there's something in the small print covering such eventualities!
