Review summary
This was our first cruise and we have mixed reviews. The positive first: staff was extremely attentive and catered to your every wish. They even cut my children's food for them. We have food allergies and once we figured out the procedure (I'll get to that later) the dining staff were beyond accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure that our entire family ate safely throughout the cruise. The ship was pretty clean. Now for the negatives: Figuring out the procedure for dining with food allergies was NOT communicated clearly by anyone before the cruise or upon embarkation. We were left to figure it out for ourselves resulting in one of our children with celiac disease ingesting gluten. She was sick for the first day and a half. Only after throwing a fit at the concierge desk did we finally get in touch with the right people. Those people were the dining staff. They were amazing! Other negatives include: very crowded, really tiny rooms, rendering is annoying, too much watching a schedule. Lastly, while the cruise line did their best to ensure a smooth and rapid embarkation and disembarkation it's still a really slow process that our family didn't care for at all.

So sorry to read about your child getting sick. If you or your TA either call or email ship services they will be prepared for any allergies your family has. My husband does this for every cruise and he has always been accommodated.
If your family is staying in one stateroom expect it to be crowded. I would book a larger stateroom or a mini suite.
As for embarkation, yes it takes time. As you move up the ladder in the Loyalty Programs on ships, you can choose your disembarkation time. Or, travel lightly and carry off your own luggage as we mostly do - hard to do with kids, though, i know.

Wow, that kind of sucks. Seriously, there is NOTHING you can do to speed up the boarding and disembarking. There are too many variables that are out of your control, such as customs/immigration and Homeland Security and booze-checks. Some of the lines (Carnival) have a quick-boarding option you can buy. As far as dietary requirements, they WILL accommodate you at the time you book your cruise, depending on how much you book in advance. You should have spoken about your dietary requirements with your sales rep from RCCL or your TA. I know for a fact that special diets are available--salt free, low cholesterol, Kosher AND GF. I'm curious if your experience was anything like mine. Check out my videos.
