Review summary
Beautiful ship and great service from dinning room wait staff and cabin steward, but,, we were disappointed at some of the trip's shortcomings.
Many of the non-direct service staff were not very friendly (walking around looking at their shoes to avoid eye contact, could not answer simple questions).
Food quality and preparation in dining room was inconsistent (Caesar salad either with too little or too much dressing, dry chicken and pork chop, soft pasta, inedible prime rib, completely melted baked Alaska, salty soups with few ingredients(mostly broth), etc,). At breakfast, toast was always cold, most eggs were overcooked, bacon at times came in whole pieces or a pile of small pieces. Salmon platter was usually missing the tomatoes or the capers.
Buffet for breakfast was OK but with one omelet station with 2 burners, the lines were too long. No trays for food required several trips or piling everything into one dish.
Buffet for lunch was usually a waste. Hamburgers and hot dogs were made in advance and the hamburgers were not hot enough to melt the cheese. When we asked the station employee to put it back on the grill his response was "I'm too busy!". No sandwich station. No pasta station; pasta was drenched in oil on the warming table causing the pasta to be starchy and the sauces to not stay on the pasta. No stir fry station so you either ate the chicken or beef or went to find something else.
No ice cream station. There was frozen nonfat yogurt at the pool. You could get ice cream at their Ben & Jerry's ft an additional charge.
Pizza toppings were OK but the crust was like eating bread. No baked pizza taste at all.
Coffee ranged from good to terrible at the same location or different ones. A ship that can not be consistent with making coffee may have bigger problems.
Shore excursions were poorly screened; examples, two and one-half mile walk had no restroom options, hop on off bus dropped us off at 11:15 for the mansion in Portland, but the mansion did open until 1PM, sail boat had filthy "head" and no light when door was closed.
Shows were schedule inconsistently. Ice show and Broadway show were fill during the cruise and they added 2 ice shows and 1 Broadway show on the last day.
