Review summary
My experience with Royal Caribbean started off not so good at the cruise port. Never have I had to wait standing in line for over an hour to board a ship. It was so unorganized, I was ready to turn around, but I was hoping that it would get better once aboard. It didn't.
My promenade cabin was cute enough. I had convinced a longtime friend to bring her family along on this cruise. Since she was a first time cruiser, I heard her ask for the same dining time as my family when she made her reservation and she was assured that her request had been granted. It wasn't. My family and her daughter sat on one side of the main dining room and she and her husband sat on another side. Not fun at all. Our second night in the dining room was our formal night. The six of us were finally seated together at a table SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE of the entrance and exit doors in front of the dining room!!! Needless to say, we gave up our table for the next 3 nights and ate at the buffet so we didn't have an issue with our server forgetting our desserts.
Breakfast in the Windjammer was good and the quality of the coffee was exceptional for a cruise. It was strong but not bitter which was a pleasant surprise. The other beverages were of poor quality. There was a beverage attendant that prepared half-full cups of tea, lemonade, and some kind of orange beverage, that were watered down by the melted ice.
The activities on the Lido deck were plentiful. The poolside bars didn't offer a wide variety of drinks, and the bars themselves looked poorly stocked, but what they did have to offer was pretty good.
The hallways of the ship were never emptied of carts and such that were used for cleaning. As narrow as they are, the hallways should have been cleared at all times to allow passengers clearance not to have to stop and allow others to pass coming from the other direction.
My favorite activity is karaoke. We had one karaoke night which was supposed to be for two hours but since the game went into overtime, it was narrowed to 30 minutes in the venue.
The 45 minute tender to and from Belize City prevented us from attempting to get off the ship at that port. I am glad we didn't try because it took over 2 hours for passengers to even get on a tender. This was the day we enjoyed other activities onboard.
What I DID LIKE about the ship was the promenade parade with the Dreamworks characters, the rock climbing wall, and one cruise director in particular named Tino. Tino was the hardest working man!! He instructed the Salsa cardio workout, he did a tribute performance of Michael Jackson dances and was up on stilts in the parade. The other passengers were very nice and pleasant.
I had a great time with my friend and her husband. It was a much needed vacation for them.
I may try Royal Caribbean again, but it will not be on the Liberty.
