It would be unfair to rate the ports as a) I live in San Diego and b) it was raining in Santa Barbara (although I tried...)
Embarkation
2 out of 5
No information from staff as to why the delays in boarding on a hot sunny day. No water, no shade. To make it worse, there was a LOT of space and seating inside the building when we finally got inside.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Gave up on the diningroom after seeing the crowded lobby the first night- the Lido deck was consistently crowded as it seems half the ship had the same idea (from what I heard, it was taking a very long time to have dinner in the dining room). As the ship was sold out, it seems it would have been a good idea to have both sides of the buffet open, not just one.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
A lot of opportunities to listen to music, the coloring for adults and origami were fun, otherwise the choice was the pool or trivia games.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was outstanding, especially considering I heard they were staffed at 70%.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The ship was beautiful, well kept up and clean, I just did not care for the layout- it was somewhat of a maze and sometimes hard yo get from one area to anothrr.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
It was a standard balcony cabin, clean and well appointed.
Ship tip
Bring nice clothes, definitely mor upscale and quieter than Carnival
It is OK but since it was raining I did not go into town. On a previous cruise I did the trolley tour- it was nice but no stops (except the Mission and then not enough time to tour ut)- saw a lot of roads and trees.
Been there several times, have yet to go into the downtown area- did take the shuttle into town and for $20 went to La Bufadora. It was OK, fun to see the rainbows in the mist but the shopkeepers are a bit aggressive.
After sailing from LA port, we much prefer San Diego port so have flown there twice from Canada to cruise..
A clean and pretty port area to tour and stay overnight precruise.
