Review summary

We’ve been on a lot of cruises with other cruise lines and I have to say, they were very good!, top notch. Holland America has little touches that make them stand out, in my view. One, fresh fruit in the room daily, a cork screw to open wine in case you forgot your bottle opener, and the open cafeteria is not self-serve; the crew serves you. This eliminates people pawing through the food, and keeps getting the food orderly. You don’t have to dodge people too much. The main dining service was impeccable! From my perspective, the best in the business. They have a really good idea, where you use your room key to pour your own beer. They charge by the ounce. I love the concept, but the taps could be maintained better. Seemed like every time I went to pour a glass, all I got was foam. I had to get an attendant to fix this, which was annoying. One thing I thought that was cool was auto hand washing station at the entrances to the open cafeteria. You stick your hands in these holes big enough for your hands and the machine comes on sending swirling water and soap on your hands. It ultimately does a final rinse and the you just towel dry. It’s really cool how this works. The Koningsdam is an amazing eco-friendly ship. It’s also very energy efficient. I was proud to call it home for 23 days. I will lcruisr with them again.
