Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room was great! I have to be gluten free and they were totally prepared to accommodate this. I was given the lunch and dinner menu the night before to select my meal choices. My meal was prepared in a gluten free section of the kitchen and the dishes I selected were adapted to a gluten free version. They had honey and almond milk for my tea. The waiters were very conscientious about seeing my food was right. Halil, Sareat and Romania were great. The lido was the reason I gave only a four. The meats were dry and tough, many of the staff was not trained to accommodate a gluten free diet. It was very difficult to get almond. I tried to avoid eating at the Lido. The pizza restaurant was great. They made your pizza when you ordered it. They had a good gluten free crust and the staff went out of their way. They also had a good gluten free bagel and they made a great breakfast sandwich.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The dining room staff was excellent, as were the room Stewart’s. Most of the staff was excellent. The lido staff was the only reason I gave this a 4 not a 5.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful. The reason I marked this a 4 was because of the casino. You had to walk through the casino on deck 3 and it stunk of cigarette smoke this odor evaded the lobby of the World stage and spread down stairs.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was small, but adequate. It had a lot of storage space. We were on deck 11, I loved this. There are very few staterooms on this deck so it is very quiet and of the way. We had a small, but adequate balcony with a great view.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

I did not do anything here, but what I saw of it didn’t look interesting.

Alicante, Spain

Didn’t go ashore as I didn’t see anything that looked interesting and it was a rainy day. Town was not close to the cruise port.

Malaga, Spain

4 out of 5
This was nice and clean and town wasn’t far from the ship

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

Funchal, Madeira

This was by far my favorite port. We took a cab to old town. Another cab driver approached us and offered to drive us up to the toboggan run and wait for us at the end of the run. He then drove us to the cable car. This was in reverse of how most people did these activities, so we had no lines to wait in. It was Great! I then walked aroun old town. I would definitely recommend all these activities.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Only got off the ship and got a rental car to drive home.
