Overall, a nice cruise. Very good ship, although some issues could be fixed (e.g. kid's club). Good variety of ports of call, although prices charged by HAL for excursions are outrageous compared to what you pay for the very same experiences if independently booked.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze - best experience ever compared to other cruise lines / ports
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Excellent food in main dining room, specialty restaurants very good but not "wow"; wine and alcoholic drinks rather on the expensive side of the balance
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Onboard activities in line with older than average passengers
Entertainment
5 out of 5
New concept of World Stage is amazing: round central stage surrounded by LED screens
Children's Programs

My Italian-only speaking 3 yo daughter has been refused admittance to kid's club - not even with her mother to take care of her...
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Very attentive staff
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
New ship, very well appointed and maintained
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Overall excellent verandah stateroom: new, clean, spacious.
Only two minor issues: balcony door opens outward, does not slide - making impossible to leave it open "just a little bit"; WC juts from the wall at a strange angle towards the shower
Cruise terminal is just a few steps from central station; very convenient car parking just below cruise terminal. City is very nice, although a bit overrated IMHO
Very nice old town around the port. We took a privately-booked excursion to Lysefjord & Pulpit Rock by boat - at one-third the price charged by HAL for the same experience!
Not a real town and not much to do around the port. We took a privately-booked excursion to Gudvangen (much nicer village) by boat - at one-third the price charged by HAL for the same experience!
Not a great city, but we rented a car and extensively toured on oue own Karmoy island, including the Viking Heritage Museun and the lovely fishing town of Skudeneshavn
Sailed Konigsdam in Feb. Great ship but as you said most activities are geared to the Senior set. I too agree about the excursions on ANY ship. They can always be booked way way less expensive from outside vendors. They know older folks are afraid to be late and stranded if they go with outside vendors so they charge high prices because they can and they know they will get their price.
