Even though I was disappointed with the Koningsdam I am still a fan of HAL. Doing the Panama Canal in October on the Zuiderdam and will hopefully find the “magic” again.

My cousin and I started out with a table in the Magain dining room in a corner, behind a partition, next to the fire exit door. We moved to a much nicer table the next evening. Service was very slow and disorganized. Waiters were not typical of HAL, no personality. Food portions were extremely small. Lido was much better but crazy crowded. Did not venture to any specialty restaurants.
Onboard Activities

Always something to do. We went to the pool each day. Water in Lido pool was quite green until the last day when they finally cleaned the water....huge difference. The other pool was way too hot, like a sauna. Trouble finding a lounge chair everyday. Bartenders were miserable.
Entertainment

Loved the entertainment. Dancers were amazing. Loved the Comedian/Magician.
Service and Staff

Room stewards were very nice but not as friendly as ones from other HAL cruises. Waiters were slow, not very friendly and didn’t know the menu very well.

This room is considered a Vista Suite but be aware, there is nothing in this cabin that would put it in the Suite category. Great storage, very nice bathroom. It was very quiet. Smaller than I expected but I usually stay in n SA Suite so that might be the problem.
I’m so relieved to know that I’m not the only one who experienced all these issues. Your review could have been written by me! I’m not convinced I’ll ever sail on HA again.
