Review summary

I went on this cruise with my 86 year old mother. I would enjoy it more if I went with my husband. My mother was not able to do many of the excursions that I would like to do and we'd already done the ones she could do.

Food and Dining

The Eggs Benedicts my mom ordered were almost always over cooked. We did a back to back cruise and for some reason they changed our waiters and wine steward. (We had early seating.) Liked the first set better than the second. The first made recommendations and service was good. The second never recommended anything and the service was slow. Even the wine steward was not as attentive. For the most part the food was very good and tasty.

We only ate here for breakfast. The atmosphere was very nice and all the people were friendly. We did seem to have some issues with getting the order right. One or 2 times they tried to deliver the wrong order and a couple of other times they forgot part of our order. Would I eat there again. Absolutely!

Onboard Activities

Trivia was a lot of fun. Went to a computer class and we didn't even turn on the computers. With no hands on, I have completely forgotten what he said. I do have an instruction paper that I may or may not attempt to follow. Did 1 Test Kitchen. It was enjoyable and fun to watch, but disappointing that you don't get to taste. That's the reason I didn't attend any more. Mass on board is much appreciated. Used the pool and lounge chairs. Very nice. Casino almost every night. Glad you have $5 tables. Black Jack tournament. Fun. Fitness center was nice. Jigsaw puzzles in the Crow's Nest could use more tables and maybe a bigger table. We did use the hydro-pool and thermal suite. Very clean, soothing, relaxing. Overall there weren't a lot of activities that attracted me in the Where and When. Pretty much the trivia, mass, entertainment (sometimes) , game shows (ie. What on Earth?) which unfortunately were offered on the late side. (As I was traveling with my 86 year old mother, I didn't get to attend as many of these as I would have liked.) Also unfortunately, the things I was interested in seemed to be offered at the same time or overlapped forcing me to choose between.

Casino Action

Enjoyed the table games and the "No Smoking" nights. All the people were friendly and very helpful teaching the games. Love the $5/6 tables. Even though we didn't win this time, we did enjoy ourselves.

Entertainment

Enjoyed the singers and dancers. Enjoyed the comedian Mark and Skinny German Juggler Boy, Did not enjoy the send comedian - Mike or the second juggler. Actually left the comedian's (Mike) show early. The theater is small so there are usually 3 shows a night, but you have to get there almost a half hour before the show to be able to get a seat. We didn't see some shows because of that.

A little too modern for my taste, but very clean and in good shape.

We had a Neptune Suite (11005 very front of ship on 11th deck), but it was unlike most of the other Neptune suites. We had a tiny balcony - only 2 chairs and a small short table. No way to eat out on the balcony. No way to put your feet up. The room itself was very spacious. The bathroom set up was not like others. It's my understanding that most Neptunes have a commode and sink that can be shut off from the rest of the bathroom. Ours was all one. We had 4 closets, one desk with 6 small drawers drawers, 2 small night stands with drawers and only one drawer under the bed was usable because they had extra bedding stuffed in the other one. We had a bar area complete with glasses, ice buckets (one for champagne) and mini bar (which we had them empty so we could use the fridge for our wine etc.). Our cabin stewards (Gede & Ari) were wonderful. Our room was kept clean and restocked with our needs (coffee, fruit, ice). They seemed anxious to help make our cruise enjoyable.
