Review summary

We took this same cruise in 2018. Unfortunately, I would caution anyone considering this cruise. The food and entertainment wasn't as good as the past cruise. I was also disappointed the Bar Harbor port was cancelled.

Food and Dining

The food in the main dining room was uninspiring. Bland soups. The service was not that great. It seems they were short handed.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
A few shows were good (the comedian and the juggler). A couple of the shows seemed like they were fillers for the lack of additional entertainment and cutting the cost. The music at the common areas didn't always appeal to us. We would have liked some 50's/60's.

Service and Staff

Our room stewards were excellent! We encountered a few ship personnel that were less than helpful/friendly but for the most part ship personnel were very friendly and helpful! The waiters in the windjammer were awesome.

Ports of call

Quebec City, Quebec

Time didn't allow us to explore the city. We did in 2018 and enjoyed the port.

SAGUENAY, QUEBEC, CANADA

Really enjoyed the port! It was beautiful and our guide was excellent! However, I would rethink using school buses to transport to the National Park. Adults riding in school buses was very uncomfortable.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

The excursion was okay but the guide inserted political views. I wasn't interested in her opinions on global climate and current government policies.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

We had no problem with the port. The people were great! But our excursion experience was less than good. We went to Fortress of Louisbourg and the closer we got to our destination the worse our bus stunk! Apparently, the night before, a group rented the bus and wrecked the holding tank. The company tried to repair it and cancelling the excursion was even discussed. We didn't deserve a smelly bus!! The guide and driver were good and tried to make the best of a awful situation. FYI the cruise rep did refund 20% of the excursion cost.

We walked to the Citadel and loved the site!

Went to the Bay of Fundy. Our guide was awesome! The lunch that was provided was delicious and very organized.

Portland, Maine

We walked around and had some excellent clam chowder!

Boston, Massachusetts

We did a Hop On Hop Off. Unfortunately the time to complete the round trip didn't allow for much exploring.

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Disembarking was very organized. But I don't think the port was prepared for the people needing transportation to the airport. We stood in the rain for 45 min!
