I have wanted to see Iceland for years, my wife not so much. But we both agreed this was a great trip. We had to make adjustments to the smaller ship, but overall we are glad we did it. I think a major reason we had such an enjoyable time was because of the work that our agent, Mary Wilson, did for us. She was responsive to all our needs and went beyond our expectations to make sure we made the right planning decisions before the trip. She is super!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Royal Caribbean has gotten the embarkation process as easy as could be.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Royal has always had very good food, but recent changes "fixed" problems that they didn't have.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
This was our first cruise on a smaller ship in a long time. Although it was entertaining, I musted the activities on the bigger ships.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The evening shows missed the mark. The musicians were quite good, but the productions were not up to the mark.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Royal trains their staff, and they always do a good job. This cruise was no exception. Our room steward, Made, and MDR waiters were outstanding.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
In this post-covid era, it is reassuring to see staff cleaning all areas every day.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
There was nothing wrong with our cabin considering the age of the ship, but we missed some of the things that are now standard on the newer, bigger ships.
Ship tip
Jewel is an older and dated ship. She does not offer the same options as the new ships.
We stayed at a lovely hotel downtown. The populace are friendly and willing to help with directions, but finding places was very confusing to this American.
I love your itinerary, but I want the newer ships you speak about. We’ve been spoiled with the newer ones, so it’s really hard to book this itinerary. Thanks for your review!
Going on transatlantic. Last year we toured UK flew to Iceland!! It was one of the most enjoyable trips ever taken!! And the water!!!! Its the best in the world!!
