Review summary

The ship was the Jewel of the Seas. This ship was very clean. The service was exceptional. All employees were polite and proficient with their jobs. The balcony bedroom was very small. It was difficult to go around the bed to get to the balcony doors. That is the only things negative about the ship. The ship provided plenty of areas for various personal activities such as playing cards. The entertainment I saw was top quality. All services on embarking and disembarking were smoothly run. This cruise took us through New England and some of Canada. The towns were small but each one offered its own charm. There was a lot of night fog in mid to late September but the excursions proved to be nice weather.

All of these old seaport cities remind me of Seattle. The buildings are old but have much character.
Don't Miss: The fort on the hill in the middle of the town was the most exceptional fort I've ever been to.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Go in mid October to see the changing of the leaf colors. The trip into Acadia National Park was spectacular. Shopping was excellent and food was very good.
Don't Miss: Acadia National Park

Saint John, New Brunswick

The architecture of the buildings was very interesting. History in this area was remarkable.
Don't Miss: The reversing falls was educational even though we didn't get there during the tide changes.

Portland, Maine

The lighthouse trip was disappointing. We saw two fairly small lighthouses and one large one with a museum and gift shop. We expected to be able to look inside or see it working.

Pros: Food

Cons: The balcony rooms are pretty small.
