Enjoy every minute of your cruise as time flies when you’re having fun!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Was on the ship within minutes of arriving at the pier.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was very good and everything was served hot. We thought it was even better than when we were on the Island Princess last year. The buffet was good with various choices. My Mom has a low-salt diet and they accommodated her both in the main dining room and in the buffet.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We didn’t really have time for activities as we were in a different port practically every day. We enjoyed playing ping pong.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Seems everywhere you turned, there was live entertainment around the ship. The production shows in the theater were very good as were the other performers. You had to get to the theater @ 15 minutes early for a seat as the cruise was fully booked.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The waiters and our room steward were always courteous, hard working and eager to please. The staff was always cleaning and we saw them disinfecting the stair handrails.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship layout is easy to maneuver and we had no problems getting to where we wanted to go. The Island Princess was going into dry dock after our cruise for some sprucing up and TLC but everything was clean and we had no complaints.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was typical and clean. The balcony was normal size and was fine when we were willing to brave the heat. The carpeting was outdated but our cabin steward told us it will be replaced in the dry dock. Island Princess has some of the smallest showers at sea but this wasn’t a surprise as we were on her last year. The beds were very comfortable.
Ship tip
Don’t let an older, smaller ship deter you from going on the Island Princess as good things sometime come in small packages.
We were in Dubrovnik on a Sunday so ferries to the islands were out of the question as there wasn’t time. Took a speedboat ride and swam/snorkeled into the blue cave. Also stopped for beach breaks at Sunj Beach on Lopud Island and Ingalo Beach on Kolocep Island. The beaches were beautiful. In the afternoon, took the ships shuttle bus into Dubrovnik and walked around. Felt like we were in the Game of Thrones! Definitely would return to Croatia.
Took a bus to Sorrento and had several hours to spend time on our own. We enjoyed lunch in Sorrento and shopping in the boutiques and souvenir shops. The last time I was in Sorrento, the lemon trees were in full bloom and it smelled like lemons. This time, the lemons were still green so I missed that amazing lemon smell. We were too tired to venture into Salerno when we returned to the pier.
Sardinia is beautiful and has gorgeous ocean views. We took a scenic tour and went to Villasimus. We hardly had any free time here and didn’t have time to walk down to see the sea. It was pretty but the tour wasn’t as great as it appeared on paper. Will choose differently next time.
We took a guided walking tour of the Old Kotor and then went to Perast and took a boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks Isle. We had a delicious seafood lunch in Perast overlooking the beautiful sea. A week or two in Montenegro would be good!
Corfu is a beautiful, green island. We took a tour and stopped at Paleokastritsa Beach and I got my feet wet in the crystal clear, warm water. Five hours would have been good here but it was very hot so a short stop in the early morning fit the bill. Saw breathtaking ocean views. Would definitely return to Corfu.
Malta was a pleasant surprise and we really enjoyed it. We went to Mdina (hand-blown glass place), Limestone Heritage Park and Gardens, Vittoriosa and Marsaxlokk Village. Marsaxlokk is a beautiful fishing village with small painted boats. I would go back to Malta in a heartbeat!
