Review summary

We had been planning this cruise for a year and the excursions we planned on taking were extremely important to us. We felt this was a once in a lifetime vacation. The cruise would have been fine if we had been able to do what we had planned. This has colored our impression of the cruise line and the handling of this incident.

No excursions

Juneau, Alaska Did not visit port

Engine issues kept us in port 11 hours past when we were supposed to depart. Because of that we were told the next morning after we were underway that we would not go to Juneau.

Ketchikan, Alaska

3 out of 5
We were supposed to do an excursion, but because we were a day early our excursion was not available. Not only did we miss our excursion in Juneau, but Ketchican also.

Disembarkation

Disembarkation was pretty well organized.

Thanks for the input! We are new to cruising.

Sorry this happened to you but, given the same mechanical issues, most cruise lines probably would have handled it with a similar solution. I wouldn't let this keep me from considering the same cruise line in the future. There's not much of a downside to a revisit to Alaska. You'll still enjoy it next time. Good luck!

Sorry it didn’t go as planned. Ports and itineraries can, and are, missed or changed for a variety of reasons - weather, mechanical or medical issues, political reasons, etc. As stated in the contract everyone to when booking, the ports are not guaranteed. If a specific port or ports are important to you, it is imperative to have a good comprehensive travel policy that will reimburse you for an itinerary change or a missed port. At least you will have some financial compensation to apply to a return trip.
