Review summary

Design and layout were beautiful, although needing some attention. Outside rails in bad shape, Major objection was the dirty windows in public areas. On sixth floor they were clean and you could sit an view the beautiful scenery. But other floors, and on the Horizon Court food level they were very dirty/streaky.

Seafood was not fresh. Chewy! Very small lobster tails. Expected to taste fresh Alaskan fish on this cruise, but didn't Found Horizon Court offering to be a notch or two down from previous Princess cruise and others. But, overall, very good, especially in the dining rooms.

Entertainment

Very good. Cruise director has been on one or two prior cruises that we've taken, and he has selected well on this one. Enjoyed the talent. An added treat on this particular cruise was the ship's crew talent show one evening, and the morning cooking show - lot of laughs!!!

Service and Staff

We have traveled on eighteen cruises so far, next one in late September, '09. We found the ship's staff to be "lacking" the "warm & cozy" feeling with guests. The front desk, servers, even some evenings in the dining room, there wasn't the jovial responses from these staff members. Seemed like some were just doing their jobs. This is part of the experience that we look forward to on ships, and that we've enjoyed on our past cruises.

Stateroom quite comfortable, and steward did a great job. Wanted a covered balcony - didn't know that we were getting an open one - rained us out two full days of use because it was open to elements. Agent didn't let us know upon booking or we would have selected another stateroom.
